Does anybody know what type of grass this is?

I put in Santa Ana Bermuda a few months ago and it has been coming up great. I now have this 'other' grass coming in and it seems to be taking over the sod. It looks terrible and I want to get rid of it ASAP. Anybody have any suggestions? Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!

Crabgrass
Ortho has a Wee-B-Gone Plus Crabgrass Control
and there are others.

To prevent it next summer, apply a pre-emergent herbicide in March.

It is crabgrass and the only thing you can do in this heat is start pulling it out. Post-emergence products right now will burn the Bermuda.

Looks like nut sedge. Is that mulch? Probably came in it. Good luck getting rid of it.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the follow up. I bought some Bayer crab grass and lawn multi weed killer, the hose spray version. I havent used it yet because I just mowed the lawn today and it said to wait a couple days before applying. Is this going to burn my grass?. I saw the pre-emergence stuff but it said it was for spring time application so I passed. Next year though definatly.

Read the labels on your weed killers carefully. Most weed killers shouldn't be used at high temperatures. You may kill desirable grass if you do.

BTW, I just upgraded to Firefox 2. It has a built in real-time spell checker. I spelled desirable incorrectly and it caught it!
