HELP! Something is digging up my lawn...
Comments (4)Or skunks. Any of the above can be guilty of digging in lawns. Squirrels are hiding things for winter. Skunks are going after grubs or worms. Raccoons just dig for the heck of it sometimes, but also to feed. On the down side, it causes some damage. On the up side, it means you have a healthy enough locale that they're comfortable poking around and happy....See MoreHow do I prevent my groundcover from invading the neighbor?
Comments (5)Creeping Jenny can creep over anything low, especially if no one is there to redirect it. There is nothing I can think of that doesn't require you to be there at least once in a while- you could trench with an edger every couple of weeks. You could Roundup every couple of weeks. You could pull it every couple of weeks. See? All require some maintenance. Maybe a low stone or brick wall too tall for it to creep over? Perhaps 12-18 inches or so. Is this the species or a gold cultivar? The gold ones are easier to slow down. Whatever you do don't water it and never feed it!...See MoreHow to prevent rabbits from eating my low hanging fruits?
Comments (18)"They just take a single bite or a few bites out of one fruit. The only other thing ever got eaten was bush green beans last year." Talk about Deja-Vu, I am having the same _exact_ issue. I've never had issues in years gone by, but I this year I expanded my garden to grow more variety. I am growing bush green beans, cucumbers, beets, watermelons, asparagus, and a couple of other things. Whatever it was was eating the leaves off of my cucumbers, my bush green beans (leaves and beans), and eating tomatoes (leafs and larger unripe fruit), the last straw was when they ate a larger unripe tomato (probably about 2 weeks from ripe), two of my young asparagus plants, and a baby watermelon. I went out one night and put up rabbit fence around my whole garden, not knowing what it was, as I was heading out there to put the fence up - I was face to face with the culprit, a huge groundhog. He stood there and stared at me and didn't even bother to move until I ran towards him with the fence posts, lol. So here's my vote towards it being a groundhog. I have tons of rabbits in my yard, but they seem much more content eating the bountiful amounts of clover in my backyard and I rarely see them near my garden. I had suspected them until I saw a tomato taken that was about a foot off the ground and saw that it was carefully "plucked" from the plant, no way a rabbit could've done that....See MoreSquirrels, Squirrels, Squirrels and more Squirrels
Comments (40)haaahaha...i now don't feel so bad knowing that a family of squirrels has taken up residence in my garage. good thing my garage is not attached to the house. but they have torn a huge hole in the back of my garage, and it seems that they are not even scared of me anymore. when i go in the garage, the mother squirrel does not even move from her spot up in the rafters. i swear today that one of them was waiting for me on my back porch....wtf?? thankfully my husband has just bought a giant assault rifle type pellet gun and is excited to use it. the squirrels have done so much damage to our garage, i almost feel like we might as well tear it down and build a new one. they have ripped down ALL the insulation, and the holes are ridiculous. so...good luck to all you squirrel hunters out there...and just remember...they might be cute..BUT THEY ARE STILL RATS!!!!...See Moretexas_tifway
