Aimee, when my Maman Cochet was young and newly in the ground it didn't matter at all because I was just fanning out the canes against the trellis with no strain. Thin, flexible canes that potted plants have aren't a problem even though they're hard. It's the canes that are the thickness of your middle finger when she gets older that sprout perpendicular to the trellis and don't seem to want to bend that are the problem unless you can make a nice wide loose bend because you have lots of room. Last year not realizing roses minded being pushed around I would force the canes in the direction EYE wanted tight to the trellis only to find months later that the cane was dead. Unfortunately, my tight situation doesn't allow being indifferent to these wayward canes, so this year I've started cutting them off, sadly. One exception is a very recent cane that decided to sprout about 6" off the ground and headed straight for the house 7' away and across the path. I'm trying to save it by very gently 'guiding' it sideways, but it still makes a sharp turn near the base of the cane so I may still lose it. It was about 6' long when I did this. It really grew all of a sudden, but I could have done something a week earlier, but I forgot about it. But then being quicker with this cane probably wouldn't have helped. I have so little space there that even a few inches could cause someone to trip on it or get scratched by thorns. I should probably just cut it off. All this blabbing is to say that you shouldn't have a problem the first year and into the second. When the rose gets more mature and new canes start getting thicker and aimed in the wrong direction, then you want to start guiding them gradually when they're about 4' - 5', I guess, because the flip side is that if you try to bend them when they're too green, they'll snap. You really have to be EXTRA careful with them. (I have snapped too many.) They're very tender and unforgiving. It's surprising how brittle green canes are. You can't handle them roughly at all. If you could go back in time, you should have had it finish graded the first time. Whatever you do to this soil will have to be repeated when the final soil is in. Then you could have started watering it as if you wanted to sprout new grass seed. That daily watering would have sprouted all the weed seeds and then the RoundUp would have given you a perfect bed for new grass. Even if you kill all the weeds in this current level of soil, the new soil will bring in more weed seeds. When you start watering the new grass, the new weeds will sprout and you'll be starting with a weedy lawn. Looking forward if you had the soil delivered today, you could begin watering daily now to sprout the weeds, spot spray the Round Up in a week, and then do your seed.

Waverly66 - I don’t think the link above on the USA website is talking about the 7000 generation appliances. There is no mention of the features in the link whirlpool trainee posted from the German website. There are other products in the US press release - main highlight seemed to be their refridgeration line enhancements and 30” warming drawer. My suggestion is wait and see what hits their website over the next few months. Miele keeps their product offerings very close to their vest and typically don’t make specific announcements until they are basically ready to order. For example the dishwasher I bought was just announced when I was ordering appliances and made a last minute switch to get a new model. Miele announced their XL combi steam oven non plumbed then a few months later announced the plumbed model. Had I known a plumbed model was in the works I would have added the drain before slab. Adding it after the fact was another $1K so I skipped it. Their approach is very different than Wolf Sub Zero - check out the Wolf SubZero next generation website - great information - I have followed it for a few years and their products tend to slip quarter after quarter. Their M class oven was one when I was choosing my appliances that continued to slip. Their current product that has slipped dramatically is their Cove dishwasher announced almost a year ago. I believe that is now finally targeted for April release but we will see. As far as service - you are correct - MIele does not have a US wide service area. Personally I would run like the wind if it will take hours for a tech to get to my house and they will charge me an arm and a leg. There is one Miele tech in my area and he services a huge area. I would call their service department (call in the am to get Princeton) and ask them what the service call charge is for you home. The wait on their technical service line is usually very short particularly first thing in the am. I do find their service folks pretty knowledgeable and helpful. It looks like you have a bermuda lawn. Do not use Roundup, it will kill your lawn. You can spray the entire with a broad leaf week killer. You can get one that attaches to your hose. You may need to spray it a couple of times. That will take care of the weeds that are not grassy weeds. For the grassy weeds it is best to prevent them with pre emergents. They are granular and are applied like fertilizer. If you are in N. TX then you will need to apply that on March 1, June 1 and Sept. 1. If you live in other parts of TX then check with your County extension agency for the proper dates. Keep your grass cut short, 1-1,1/2" . Taller grass will not be as thick. Mow low and mow often. This will help to thicken the grass. Fertilize once the grass start growing well, lightly every 4-6 weeks if you are trying to improve your lawn. Good luck!
