There is A1 Grass, Sand, & Stone in Plano, and Buena Vista in Garland. Now with that said sod farms are not going to sell small quantities of less than 1 pallet. However just about all the Home Depots, Lowes, and nurseries sell small quantities by the piece. You can find those everywhere around the DFW area. Laying sod is pretty easy. You want good loose soil texture like you would have for a flower planting bed. From what it sounds like you want to do, dig up the sod that has died off. That is going to leave you with a depression. Use some store bought top soil or sand mix in with your native soil and smooth it out and lay the sod. If you want to save some money just rip up sprigs from thick areas and plant in the thin or care areas.

It is the mechanical stimulation of the plant that triggers it. It acts like a freshly pruned shrub or tree, you kick its a$$ & it comes back stronger than before. Dethatcher won't give you this effect but coring, verticutting & any other manipulation that removes root mass will cause this growth reaction. That's why you have to be careful when you do these things, as bad timing can cause big problems.
