Question regarding spacing of apple trees growing from seed

Hi,

I have a lovely mature apple tree in my back yard. For the past two summers I have been rather slow in removing all of the fallen apples from the ground, and this year I have six additional 2-3 feet sproutlings coming up in a line south of my tree. Given that apples don't fall far from the tree, these sproutlings are fairly close together, not to mention only a few feet away from the mother tree.

I am thinking about letting at least one of them continue to grow so that I can have an additional apple tree in my yard (and to see nature take its course), but am concerned whether the proximity to the mature tree will significantly hinder its development. Should I leave it in its original spot, or dig it up and plant it a little further away? Thanks in advance!
