composted dairy manure solids as base for lawn?

It sounds smelly I know... but it isn't. Has anyone planted a lawn in this stuff?

A local dairy has an on-site manure digester and sells the composted solids for landscaping. I have used this material before in flowerbeds and it is amazing. It doesn't smell at all and the digesting/composting process kills any weed seeds.

The nitrogen content is about 1.1 percent.

We have clay soil and need to bring in something to put on top of that before we attempt to seed the lawn. It runs about $25 yard typically, but we can get it at a discount.

If it does seem like it would work, should we till it into the clay soil or just spread it on top? How deep should it be? We have a small lawn tractor and a rototiller.

Thanks in advance for any feedback!
