Grapes - ok to prune at harvest?

I am getting started on harvesting some Black Monuka grapes. I was wondering if it is ok to cut off some of the vines as I harvest in order to make it easier to access the grapes.

I have an abundance of spiders and european paper wasps this year and don't relish the thought of repeatedly thrusting my hand in the tangle of vines. I just wondered whether or not those vines would be better left on in order to store up some energy for next year.
