are peas a suitable cover crop for a new blueberry bed?

Hi!

I am preparing a new bed to plant blueberries in the spring and want to know if peas are a suitable cover crop. I'd like to plant peas now in the same bed. My thought is to use the peas as a cover crop to help prepare the soil for the blueberry bed. Since we love peas so much and don't have much space to plant peas elsewhere in the garden we thought we'd plant peas instead of some of the other cover crops. My concern is that I'm adding iron sulfate and garden sulfur to the soil to lower the acidity. Will the peas still grown? Should we expect a pea harvest? Is a there a better cover crop for a blueberry bed?

This is a duplicate/similar post the the peas beans and legumes forum.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Diane
