I got another chandelier for a birdfeeder,it has cut glass in the middle,it was only a quarter! I got another punch bowl and a dozen cups for $5( I really gotta find something to use these punch cups for!),a glass chip and dip set for $2,a butterfly house for $1,some vases to make the bird bath with,shutters,$1 each, two more tea pots,one was free,one was $1,so I can make a tea pot totem,a copper thing,I don't know what it is??? a candle holder maybe?? but it's already turning green $1,gonna put it in a flower bed,a silver plate tray for a dime,to mosaic,and a porcelain knick-knack with roses for a quarter to get the roses off of,lol. I got a lot of other things,including some more plants for my butterfly/bee/hummingbird garden.

CTC...the raised bed I will be making will be for more daylilies, so that I have a bed ready for spring (gives me something to plan over the long, cold winter). I have put in 3 raised beds just this year alone for daylilies. It is a joke around here that when I have run out of room for more raised beds I will put one on the roof of the house...LOL. honalee...Yes, it's a lot of work every fall to dig up the dahlias. I have been recycling those tubers for many years now. I used to also grow gladiolus but that involved lifting them in the fall as well and it got too tedious. That's why I love my asiatic & oriental lilies...the bulbs stay put. Zeus was looking out at Lily who looked like a drowned rat after being in the rain all morning. Rita, Incendiary is my favorite of Maryott's intros. The color just keeps getting deeper as the days are getting cooler and I can't believe how many blooms I have gotten off of that one. It was planted in July and has been blooming for several weeks. Kay, the roses are finally getting back into blooming. I had a glorious June display that stopped passersby in their tracks to take pictures, then the japanese beetles showed up in early July and started their reign of terror. So I had to prune them back of their blooms and now they are reblooming. I still have some beetles (I discreetly take only photos of the untouched blooms) but at least I can enjoy a few lovelies before the frost comes. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR COMMENTING! Celeste

Oh my gosh - that was fast! I just sent it on Saturday. I'm glad you liked it. I wanted to put in more but I didn't want the butterfly to get broke and so I had to hold back. Thank you also for your package. I loved it! Unfortunately, I can't post pics because I don't have a digital camera. I know, I need to get with the times - lol.

I have pared down my baking significantly as far as cookies and treats go. When the kids were home I made tins and trays of cookies for bus drivers, teachers' lounges, older folks in our neighborhood who no longer baked for themselves, etc.. My group of 6 close women friends looked so forward to them because they didn't bake. Then the kids grew up and moved, we moved from the old neighborhood and all my women friends started South Beach, WW, or Sugar Busters diets and I didn't want to undermine their efforts. A couple years ago when my Mom was diagnosed w/ breast cancer (her 2nd time) right after T-Giving I was overwhelmed w/ her care over the holidays and just didn't do the baking that year. The world did not come to an end, and I discovered that I could choose to keep the tradition - or not. These days I bake when I choose to, when I have guests and when asked to bring dessert to a gathering. Like someone above noted, it's not like in years past when people really seemed to treasure the homemade baked gift. The cost in time and ingredients seems greater than in the past. I'm delighted to bake for those I know enjoy it, but I don't dole out the homemade treats the way I used to.

What great stuff! I'm trying not to go to any more garage sales until I complete at least half of my current project list. I guess I'll just have to live vicariously through you guys!

Ok, that does it, LOL. I've got to try yard sales. I'm a shy person and no one to go with, so never quite brave enough to stop and go thru folks things on my own. Your jackpot was really unbelievable tho. Love the little rabbit of course, and that little wood chair with the paint peeling is sooo cool. And the shutters. Everything!!!
I just can't believe all these goodies, much less the prices you got them for. WOW.

Thanks ya'll! I already finished the birdfeeder chandelier, I painted it aqua and used glass punch cups. I thought I had some pearl Mardi Gras beads somewhere to add to it,I'll keep looking. Karen, my aunt made me that little red chair. I bought the stuff right on the blue bench,or right in front of it,lol. You should give it a try and check out the yard sales in your area. It's fun to go alone,too! I always mapquest them and print them out. Just drive up,get out and say Hello and start looking,keep those quarters handy! You'll meet lots of new people,and I usually come home with free plants,too,after admiring peoples gardens,they'll give me cuttings.And lots of ideas for garden junk when you see their decorations.

Oh Just listening makes me wanna go today!!! I LOVE garage sailing! I usually point to the closest pet and say
"I'll pay a buck a pound!" And it's a real icebreaker! hee hee!! It's so fun and you really do meet the nicest people!

Didnt get to go this weekend so I can always count on you folks to get my fix.Actually DH and I made a deal not to get any more stuff till we straighten up the project room in the garage. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa why did I agree to it.Anyway think Ill go out in the heat and move some crap ,,,I mean treasures around.

What a great bunch of treasures! Either the tag sales around here are ridiculously priced, or folks throw out the most wonderful things so they don't cost a dime. Go figure ;o)
