Lots of goodies on a rainy day

First off, I apologize to those of you experiencing drought conditions and/or fires. It's been very rainy here

and I've tried my best to wish it over to your parts of the country. My thoughts are with you all.

I'm stuck inside with Mom and the cats so I figured I'd post some pictures to beat the boredom. (I was supposed to

have a truckload of loam delivered so I can put in another

raised bed but it's pouring out and the yard is mucky).

I'm glad I still have some flowers to post....but my season

will be over in a few weeks once the frost comes. Might as well share what's left with you all. Most of these were taken yesterday during a brief break from the rain, but a couple are from today.

I'm so excited that I did get one daylily to REBLOOM!

'VEINS OF TRUTH', a bit paler than it was in July but it's

my only rebloom so I just love it.....and it's a big bloom.

OOOOOOOh, Incendiary once again catches my eye and I love the yellow rose. I have daydreams of growing climbing English Roses winding their way up the apt. buildings (I love Grace and William Shakespeare), but I had to just move my only rose out of its container into a raised bed, because it was very unhappy, so why make more melancholy? Lol
Love those cactus-type dahlias so much!
My 4 year old thinks Zeus is so fun! ;)
What are your plans for the raised bed?

Love, love, love your pics Celeste! I just came in from planting to get a cup of tea and had to peek at the forum. Too bad you have to dig up your dahlias. I'll bet that is a chore. but they are so beautiful, they are worth it!

The only thing that really bloomed this year was my peonies and I pretty much missed taking pics cause I was busy with the puppies. Next year will be better although I don't expect too many of my DL's to bloom yet. I guess not every year can be a masterpiece for us garden artists. :)

Thanks ya'll! I already finished the birdfeeder chandelier, I painted it aqua and used glass punch cups. I thought I had some pearl Mardi Gras beads somewhere to add to it,I'll keep looking. Karen, my aunt made me that little red chair. I bought the stuff right on the blue bench,or right in front of it,lol. You should give it a try and check out the yard sales in your area. It's fun to go alone,too! I always mapquest them and print them out. Just drive up,get out and say Hello and start looking,keep those quarters handy! You'll meet lots of new people,and I usually come home with free plants,too,after admiring peoples gardens,they'll give me cuttings.And lots of ideas for garden junk when you see their decorations.

yeah, goofy me just doesn't like that unfinished look, although I have lived with it a long time, at least i didn't destroy it as the cookbook pages would easily come off with some water..no worries. I knew it was older than 1900 but not sure how much older. I like it a lot, begged it off my mom as she has a lot of antiques that i love. No one else in the family really cares other than the value. I love them as I have always had my house done in either antiques or reproductions.

I have been busy bringing in the plants that I want to keep over the Winter. I brought the two Hibiscus in a couple days ago since the weather guy was warning us of a frost. Today I cut back the Mandavilla and brought it in. Also two large hanging begonias and one Coleus. I've never tried to keep a Coleus, but it was just too pretty to throw out. They are all in the end of the garage where I have an entrance door with windows. Also I dumped some container plants, and took down the deck umbrella and brought it in. I'm right proud of myself!! The weather today has been perfect with sunshine, and temps in the high 60's. S'posed to get some of that rain on Saturday, when the family will be here for my DD's birthday. I hope it will hold off though. Enjoy the weather while we can. Winter is just aeound the bend. Sue

Stunning Roses and dahlias. My favorite dahlia is that first pink one. Really pretty. The roses well, they are all stunners. Your daylilies are looking great also and my favorite today is INCENDIARY.

CTC...the raised bed I will be making will be for more daylilies, so that I have a bed ready for spring (gives me something to plan over the long, cold winter). I have put in 3 raised beds just this year alone for daylilies. It is a joke around here that when I have run out of room for more raised beds I will put one on the roof of the house...LOL.
honalee...Yes, it's a lot of work every fall to dig up the dahlias. I have been recycling those tubers for many years now. I used to also grow gladiolus but that involved lifting them in the fall as well and it got too tedious. That's why I love my asiatic & oriental lilies...the bulbs stay put. Zeus was looking out at Lily who looked like a drowned rat after being in the rain all morning.
Rita, Incendiary is my favorite of Maryott's intros. The color just keeps getting deeper as the days are getting cooler and I can't believe how many blooms I have gotten off of that one. It was planted in July and has been blooming for several weeks.
Kay, the roses are finally getting back into blooming.
I had a glorious June display that stopped passersby in their tracks to take pictures, then the japanese beetles showed up in early July and started their reign of terror. So I had to prune them back of their blooms and now they are reblooming. I still have some beetles (I discreetly take only photos of the untouched blooms) but at least I can enjoy a few lovelies before the frost comes.

I think you have quite a bit of property there so not much chance of needing that raised bed on top of the house LOL!

CELESTE: Are you not bothered by Deer there?Hope you are not.Your daylilies are gorgeous.Just love that BERRY CHEESECAKE.And your roses are just gorgeous.I have about gave up on roses.Had just too many Deer eating them up.I still have some, but, not the big bunch I use to have.And my soil here is just not any good either.Those Dahlias are soo pretty, too.That is a great picture of ZEUS standing on his hind legs on that window seal looking out.Hes presious. Thank you for posting these pictures of your gorgeous flowers and the kitties, too.

WOW, your roses and dahlias are just gorgeous. You must walk out your door and just have a heavenly scent of perfumed air.

Wow is right!! Just beautiful. I have just a few roses, cause I do love the fragrance they provide. Nothing better than stopping to smell the roses!!! Your dahlias are stunning. And I also love Incendiary, I have it also, and it is one of the first to bloom. Just a great daylily. Oh, love that pic of Zeus all stretched out and looking out the window, cats are just fun!!

INCENDIARY is just a gorgeous daylily. I think I have loved every pic I've seen of it. Nice variety of dahlias you've got. My favorite of those is the 5th one... it looks like it is lit up from within. I'm not as big of a fan of the roses, especially those really full with tons of petals ones, but Perception looks like a perfect rose for my tastes.
