Take the fruit early to save the pear tree?

I have a Bosc pear tree that has about 10 beautiful large greenish-red pears that are not quite ripe. At least, they are not in the least bit soft. The leaves of the tree have a brown fungus looking spots that seems to be killing the leaves. They are withering. Should I pick the fruit and spray the tree with a fungicide? The fruit seems totally unaffected by the fungus. If I let the fruit ripen and then spray am I risking loosing the tree altogether? In other words, is time of the essence here?
