Get well quick our friend. My mother had that surgery where you inject a 'glue' into the disc and it fixes it up before they even get the surgery finished. She feels great....She was 84.

Luv your finds. The bowls stack right. Must have been for snacks or treats. Are those bells? They look kinds like a cover I saw that you put over butter dish or to cover a tea cup to steep the bags. They are great no matter. Good find.

twomonths, never heard of gluing a back, LOL. Sounds good to me tho. The bowls nest in one another and I guess they are for small snacks and dips. They aren't very large.
The bells are definitely made for a patio or outside. They are heavy, terra cotta which I realized when I looked inside them. Typical southwestern type decor, so much is made of terra cotta here.

So sorry you're out with your back. But great finds,you could make a matching totem family or one very pretty amber totem :) You got good deals on everything. I'd love to get my hands on a pig to mosaic now,got some ducks and that only took about a year! Get better :)

Karen, love your pig--I used to collect pigs too--but mostly indoor ones. DH and DS asked that they go away when we had our moving sale, so I only kept a few special ones. Doesn't mean that I don't still like them though. ;o)

Those amber bowls will make a wonderful totem. Good luck on your hunt for pieces to fit it all together. I haven't made one for awhile, but really enjoyed doing them last year. I made 13 all together--then thought I'd better stop! Ha ha

The bells will look nice wherever you hang them too. You sure had a good shopping day. ;o)

Just love your pig! sorry to here about your back, I hurt mine in '92. I take turmeric capsules for the inflamation and also fish oil capsules. Helps alot. They are doing a study on artificial disc by injection. Kind of like get a steroid shot but will be a gel that rubberizes after it goes in, as far as I know only a few people have had it done but will be approved and be available in the next couple years. Just don't let your back get you down. Do a little at a time and rest in between. Its a slow process but better late than never.

Hi, new here. I have a set of the amber glass I got from my mom. She used them as "company ashtrays" when they had card night. I'm in my 30's and I remember them from when I was little. I really like this forum.

Now that you mentioned the bowls being ashtrays, I remember my folks having some similar too. Tho I'm twice your age now. LOL Well, whatever they were, they now will be a totem soon.

Karen...love yur totem idea with those cool colored bowls! I've got my wife hooked on making a totem since I've heard everyone's great ideas and seen totem pictures on this site! We found our first totem treasure Friday...a clear ruffled vase for $1 at a garage sale. That sounds like a great deal but then we bought a HUGE old crock for $40 at the same sale. Is that a good buy? I want to make it into a fountain...it's about 3 feet tall and almost as wide with old, rustic, wooden handles. Thanks for sharing your neat treasures! Kirk

I think kirks back is fine, purple moon has a problem and I empathise with her...my sciatica is keeping me a bit down also...too much gardening.

My Mother had kyphoplasty surgery. 3 tiny incesions and the surgical cement was hard by the time she left surgery and came home next morning. The goals are designed to stop the pain caused by the bone fracture, to stabilize the bone, and to restore some or all of the lost vertebral body height due to the compression fracture.

You know I think the bowls will look great on a totem, look like skirts and hats for garden ladies.

I think that huge crock sounds like a terrific buy and would make a neat fountain. I bet it's beautiful and can't wait to see it.
Totems are very addictive and fun. I have made 4, and have stuff to make a few more. Two of mine are cobalt, one is milk glass, and is the lead crystal type glassware. I can't wait to get my amber one done next. It won't be very big, but that's the fun of totems. You can make most any size. I even have a tiny one that's only about 10" high. Pix of all in photobucket album, so you've probably seen them before.

oh my goodness, Kirk. You REALLY have me blushing at such compliments.
I had the whippet stepping stone mold custom made from a drawing I had. But bought the rabbit ones. Actually bought a lot more molds than that, so easy to pour them and then paint or use concrete stain. Trouble is, my back isn't letting me play with heavy stuff now. There's a great mold seller I buy mine from, she has such cool molds I think and a super nice lady willing to offer advice or tips if needed. And I needed, LOL.
