Comments (7)ha thanks wasn't sure just grew it from one leaf that fell off a friends cactus 8 years ago didn't ask what it was. I called it one or the other because it blooms in thanksgiving and Christmas. Figured it was some kind of cross breed don't know. Im just scared that it will die cause its my oldest one i don't want to lose it to some kind of weird looking pimple thing. they are all in bloom now....See MoreZygo Cactus - Leaves turning Red
Comments (1)Turning red suggests heat and/or water stress. The plant may have lost its roots through overwatering; tip it out of the pot to see if it has any. If not then you will need to reroot it. Check your potting mix to ensure that it drains freely and does not stay wet for a long time. The mix should contain components such as charcoal or vermiculite that act as reservoirs of moisture without excluding air from the root zone. (Some growers use kitty litter, the heat treated clay variety, for this purpose)....See Morered color in Christmas Cactus
Comments (23)Stush2049 Pitts. PA, zone 6 7 hours ago Sans, There must be in order to get the colors. I am surprised that those colors don't bleed into each other like some one once told me they would. Also I believe there are about 6 plants of each color in that pot. It is very full and dense. I just purchased 3 variegated ones and have it together to get a similar effect. They have tripled their size already.******************************* Regarding the mixing of colors, if the plants freely reseeded themselves, there's no telling what colors you may get from those pollen combinations. That's why you shouldn't plant different types of mint together, they'll cross pollinate, reseed, the old stuff will die and the babies won't be nearly as good (taste/smell/usefulness) as the parents but will have hybrid vigor and take over all over everywhere. Unless you have it surrounded by a moat of chickens, then you got nothing to worry about as far as any escaping vegetation goes....See Moreelfinn
