Ody, I use the drip bottles in my gh..Got the tips at Carol Wright Gifts..You save 12 oz plastic bottles, then screw the tops closed..There's a hole on each tip, which leaks slowly. The tip goes into the soil, approximately 2".
I don't know whether or not my website is working, but I've included pics of the bottles inserted in plant soil..They work okay.
The only concern I had after purchasing the tops was soil would be watered in the section directly under tip, and not the whole plant, so I added two bottles for large pots.
Price of tips are inexpensive. Take a look at Carol Wright website, look at gardening supplies..they should have pics and prices..Toni

Over the weekend I bought some Acquaspikes, which sound similar. The directions said to put a teaspoon of water crystals in the bottle. I'm thinking this is to slow down wateringf. I originally put sand in the spike, and the water was out of the bottle in a few hours!

I also got the bright idea to soak my old terra-cotta spikes (sensors, I think they are called) and tubing in bleach. Maybe they got blocked up.

I'll keep you posted on my quest to try every automatic waterer out there! OH, the 'drip-it' got bad reviews on Amazon.

Wow, Toni, those spikes are cheap! Are they plastic or terra cotta? Are there any holes in them or does the water move by osmosis? Here are the acquaspikes I just got. They have little holes in the plastic spike.

If I get these to work again, so far they keep plants watered the longest. You can just fill a bucket with water and that would last for weeks on end.

Here they are, and the globe waterers are on this page too. I love how they look, just wish the water would last.

I was curious to know whether anyone has tried Aquarocks. I've been looking for a good watering system for when I go on vacation short of setting up one of those crazy automatic watering systems (kind of unsightly for houseplants). I tried the gel spikes, but they didn't work very well. They didn't last all that long, were too big for smaller plants and (worst yet) turned from gel to liquid if you had them for more than a few months. Ugh!

I was also curious about the aqua globes they advertise on TV, but a similar product seemed to get mixed reviews on Amazon. Has anyone tried those? They are pretty and relatively cheap (4 for $15), but I'm not convinced they will last very long.

I tried Plantastic again just last month and I successfully watered 6 plants (2 spiders, 2 pothos, and some schleferra) with GREAT results.

The water emptied gradually, just like the plants prefer.

This company has a brand new website, improved design, and pictures posted. I swear one of them looked just like my own plant.

I had the same bad result with the AquaGlobe - all the water emptied right away - no help on a 2 week vacation.
