My finished weekend projects

I didn't get as many things finished this weekend as I wanted to. I started a lot of things but only finished a couple.

The birdhouse is about half put together. I have to wait for the GEII to dry so I can finish stacking the pieces. The butterfly feeder glass is in the kiln for the second time. The windchime that I started needs something else and I haven't figured out what I am going to use yet. The cement bunny is drying so that I can paint it. I'm sure that all of these projects will get finished sometime this week. I did finish a hummingbird feeder today and put my gazing ball onto it's stand. I haven't put it in the garden yet since I don't know where it is going to go yet. I will post a link so you can see the pics though. They are in the garden junk album...

I really like your hummer feeder! Where do you buy the cork nipples like that? The ruby throated hums are being seen in our area lately. It would be nice to create a nice feeder like yours. Susie

Thanks Tom and LeeLee ! Yup, I'm retired - which makes me not young, but...as long as I can still do this, I will. Let's just say I'm obsessed, with no other hobbies 'cept reading when it rains...and when I moved here in April 2010, the place was bare except for trees and bougs - so I went at it ...just couldn't stand all the bareness - I've certainly made some mistakes, but soon I'll start moving things around and redo!...glad you enjoyed the pics Hester

Thanks for your kind words. Lynn, the headboard is from Hillsdale - they seem to make a lot of metal headboards. I bought it at a local furniture store but I noticed they are all over the place online. I bought another Hillsdale metal headboard for a different bedroom that didn't have one. I think the white one is the Cherie model and the other one I got is called Bonita. Being the type that is overwhelmed by too many choices, including paint colors, I ended up just picking a color I'd already used at home - BM Crisp Khaki. Held the quilt up to it, it looked good, done. I think if I was retired and had more time I would get into doing this more. I kind of like painting - it's very gratifying when you're done.

Thanks to you all again! Sam, Jenny and I truly appreciate your thoughts. I am so gratified to hear that you like my projects and feel my home is 'warm'. I do love my little house, and am grateful that I enjoy sewing and projects like these, as you can make something that no one else will have, and do it just to your taste. mjsee, I stained the table first, so no exacto knife was used. I just used math and a ruler to create the diamonds, with a soft pencil, which was on top of the stain. So all I had to do was use the black paint to do the harlequins. I did them by hand with a small flat tipped brush and just tried to be careful. I LOVE old things, so as much as I tried for perfection, they aren't all exactly alike, but that works with an old piece of furniture. The faux marbling was quick and easy compared to those darn harlequins! Lisa, (bungalow) you have that right, although I am perusing Craigslist to see what I can come up with for cheap vintage furniture to play with. I may need to scope out the cellar again. :-)

Thanks. Regarding the sm. animals they were on a strip attached to the panel and I fussy cut, fused then stitched around them with a sm. applique stitch. I also fussy cut the yellow check fabric for the inner border. Orange is not my favorite color but had some left over from another quilt as were most of the fabrics. I backed it with br. green fleece. [don't tell anyone but I have been using the green for a design wall but the color was right. lol] I guess I should have said the that the sister is also my niece.

The feeder came out great!! I always go nuts over your stained glass projects!! The humming bird & butterfly & chickadee I just love plus all your window art like the lighthouse!! You will be busy to finish all the stuff you listed above,can't wait to see them! Jan

Love your glow in the dark globe. I was wondering how well they look at night. Love your makeshift stand. Matches very well. I have seen the hummingbird "corks" and thought of making one out of a bottle too. Thanks for sharing the link! I love all your stained glass creations too!
