Thanks SoTX! We actually have a bunch of white quartz landscaping rock in a big pile on the other side of the shop, so that is what I'll use. It was an eyesore in the front flower beds, but will work well for greenhouse flooring. I hadn't thought about the heat sink aspect, but that would be good motivation for digging the floor out by a couple inches and adding more rock (plus, that pile will shrink more and get out of my way). Sunnibel, great idea using the clear roofing for your chooks. My coop gets too much shade in the summer as it is, my girls probably would have appreciated a clear roof (plus they can stargaze at night). Good luck working on hubby for the GH. My dad and I just started building while my DH was at work. Ask for forgiveness instead of permission, that's my motto!

Thanks Barb! I actually bought 'Going Bananas' which is a child of Happy Returns, and is a beautiful, bright lemon yellow. They crossed 'Happy Returns' with 'Brocaded Gown' and now we have this lovely! On Tinker's it says it isn't fragrant, but mine sure was! It also does not say that it has extended bloom, but it seemed like the flower would open REALLY early in the morning and stay all night, sometimes even until early the next morning! I call that extended! Here are some pics... just in case your interested:

Hello.I'm with ya on the grass thing.Boring!I also was bit by the palm/ bamboo bug about 10 years ago.Yes it is alot of work.I live north of the Daytona area.So I envy your warmer weather.What got me started was a visit to the old Dent Smith house.Ever head of him?Lol.Well as a new palm nut you should look up.10 years in and 60+ varieties of palms growing.Some from rare seed from Den'ts old yard.I have learned alot.I like to push the limit like Dent did.Alot of palms I have growing here should not be.I also have 11 varieties of bamboo growing.What I know about flame throwers is they don't like full sun.Will burn.Ever go to Fairchild in Miami?Theirs are in part shade.So go to these types of places.Look & learn.Also,blue chugii looks much better in shaded area.Will be very yellow in direct sun.One question I do have.The palm right of garage-Is it a Dypsis baronii?

Thanks for the responses and compliments on the squirrel baffle!!! I am quite pleased to say that the squirrels have tried their darnedest, but still have not managed to get up onto it. It's funny to watch them run up the post, stop when they realize they can't go any further and jump off...then they just scrounge around on the ground for dropped seeds. I almost feel guilty!! (but not too guilty because I do have a squirrel feeder out for them) And the greatest part is, I am saving so much money in bird food..especially the woodpecker cakes!!!! The birds really enjoy the big "platform", and one thing I've noticed is that the fishing line that supports the corners is helping to keep the larger birds off of the platform. The blue jays have tried to land on there, but they always change their minds. chickadeemelrose ~ I'll have to try the milk jug idea...I have a couple of feeders that have no "roofs"...I'd like to make something to keep them dry. james_m_clark~ The upside down tray is actually pretty thick and self supporting..the reasoning behind supporting the corners is the possibility of snow/ice weighing it down and cracking it around the center. I thought this would help distribute the weight. terrene~ I do have a feeder pole that somehow the squirrels manage to run up, I'll have to try the stove pipe style squirrel baffle for that. I'll post back in a couple of weeks and let you know if the squirrels have managed to outsmart us!
