Pretty plant ID

Found this plant at the closest garden centre covered in webs and mealies. Didn't buy it as I've finally gotten a mealie infestation under control.

Found this plant at a garden centre about half an hour drive away for same price sans webs and mealies! Snatched one up faster than the blink of an eye. Only thing is...I dunno what it is. I LOVE how it looks and its flowers, and I'd hate to kill it.

Looks like Mandevilla sanderi.

I also vote Mandevilla. It resembles Alice DuPont to me, but I have that on the brain, ever since I saw one growing on someone's rooftop patio, vining all over the place and dropping spent flowers on top of my head. I've wanted one since. Still never got one though. Good find!

Now that I have been gifted this pretty....darn..I thought when I got it, I could put it outside in my shaded property, but it's a houseplant (not hardy in zone 8a) and I have 4 inside kitties, and this is poisonous as well. hmmmm... maybe convert to a hanging plant?? to tantalize my frisky cats as well (grin)

If a body clicks on History & Lore at the Monrovia page (first hit at Roselee's link) it says 'Moonlight' was brought to Monrovia by Dan Hinkley, and was introduced in 2015 as a Monrovia exclusive. It originated as a naturally occurring branch mutation of Disporum cantoniense 'Aureovariegata' (not patented). The new cultivar was discovered by Reinier van Elderen in a container at his nursery in 2007 in Lijnden, The Netherlands Dan Hinkley is the plant explorer and Herons-wood garden director who lives here in western WA. Monrovia offers an entire Dan Hinkley plant collection consisting of kinds he has shared with them.

Oh yes yes yes! I remember it started with an 'M'. Thank you so much!

Must say I've never had flowers falling on my head. Better than fruits though, no?

I'm just hoping now that it's not too difficult to care for. I can provide everything in abundance except humidity. It's pretty darn dry here. It doesn't need high humidity does it?
