Toni,

I got some fish emulsion for $3 at the pharmacy on sale and used it as a fert to try it out. I got trememdous growth in the last week or so since using it. I used a little VF-11 also, one watering of each and one epiphyllum has given me 25 new stems in 6 weeks since using VF-11, but one use of the fish stuff each stem grew at least 2 in!

Wow, 3.00! And all that growth, too!! Thanks for the idea..I usually use FE as a foliar insecticide, or feed cactus and succuelents..I'll try it on a cutting someone sent last yr that's really slow growing.
I can't believe how fast yoru epi grew..amazing..what light do you keep in or is it outside? Toni

My plants are outside in the shade. The other epies are growing fast also but not as fast as this one. I fed some more to my epies today and my cat came running screaming, "Mom fish! Mom, gimmee fish! fish! fish!" my porch smells like the beach. lol

Hi Tony, Beautiful pics. I see your photo of Snowqueen nectarine. Can I safely assume you grew that fruit & did not buy it at the grocery? Seems like a silly question, but... most reports I've seen say that Snowqueen is one the most highly-rated nects for flavor, but is NOT cold hardy beyond Zone-7, which is why I have not attempted growing it on my vacation property in Zone-6b. Are you growing Snowqueen in the ground in Zone-5A Nebraska? Did it survive this past winter? If you are successfully fruiting Snowqueen in Zone-5A, then all bets are off! How old is the tree? From where did you obtain it? Was the fruit richly flavored? Thanks in advance for whatever information you can share. Cheers, -Matt

Thanks for your replied Martin. I am trialing a bunch of varieties from a good friend that sent me the cuttings. I rooted them in late March, 2017 and potted them in the 5 gallons pots. They are doing real well with some main crops in green stage. I can't wait to taste them and root more of the most productive and best tasting ones. I just read through her list of books written and realized I haven't read all. Maybe later this year I can do that. I haven't been reading nearly as much, after a lifelong habit of reading. One of my favorite places to read has always been on a chaise outside and I just haven't found time to indulge. Maybe soon.

I agree that the views are stunning. And with respect to the windows - I have watched the Iron Man movies a couple of times and I remember the destruction scenes of Tony Stark's home during the movie. It's interesting to see the actual home that was the template for his house. Now I see where all the windows came from.

I built a small shade house with PVC and a tarp since I don't have any trees. It's about the equivelent as a 70% shade cloth. It should also hold the heat in the winter better. I don't know if we'll be here in the winter because my g'father's health is going down and they may sell their rentals.

I'm so sorry about your grand father, Mentha..Is he really ill?
I hope he's getting proper treatment, considering the way docs are now handling cases..all they see are money signs.
So, does this mean, you may move? I don't envy you that..Will you remain in CA? I'll keep your grandpa in my prayers..hugs, Toni
