'Live Art' to share

Sent this e-mail to my kids & friends...would like to share it with you GJers...altho' it's not really "Garden Junk"...it's "Garden Art!" (so I put this on conversation side)... I've been coveting having this piece made for 2 yrs. now! My DH made the old barnwood frame some yrs. ago ... it will be attached by top of frame with eyehooks in the back...so attachment is hidden.

"Hello all....I just wanted to share my wonderful day today! At Farmer's Market, Qwen (the willow tree artist/furniture maker) finished my "Live Art" piece for me. I described my idea (an easel) about a month ago & how I wanted to use an old barnwood frame on it to "frame art" out in the pines & my gardens...and that I would be moving the pc. around periodically. So, today, I brought it home from FM & spent an hour moving it around...and took some pics...you will get the idea...I've sent you lots of pics....but was getting too tired and too hot...so brought my "Live Art" inside on the porch for the evening."

Hope you enjoy the pics...part of my inspiration for this easel was seeing a "frame" on GJ out in a garden! Using the pics on some of my cards...will be taking some more soon! This artist, Qwen, does wonderful pcs. & gave great feedback & ideas for this pc..more than I ever imagined! Thanks for lookin'! Jeanne S.

The photos themselves should be framed for the house!
Simply gorgeous. But the way that garden easel is made is absolutely stunning. I need to put this in our Inspiration album if it would be ok to do so.

In the master I'm going to have a mosaic I will have done of some scene in Oregon, in DD's bath I have framed vintage ads, one for Ivory soap and one for Kohler, waiting for her. (sorry no pics--although I will tell you that if you use a vintage print ad and you have any natural light, make *sure* to use UV-protective glass, because daylight will fade it *fast*). In our public bath we have a Hiroshige of a harbor waiting for us to redo the room--it was my mother's and I have kept the very mid-century (not my style mid-century, but hers) matting and framing out of honor to her. (It also happens to go with our color choices in there.) robyn, love that second piece, even if it is "in there" :)

Thanks girls. Heres' some birch bark art too. I'm just getting some pics on photobucket finally. I'll add the direct link so you can see it all. Finally got the picture thing down (dummie me took me awhile) so am adding pics as I have the extra time. I also am starting a cabinet project today. It's an unfinished cabinet, I'm going to finish it and mix mosiac and birch bark on it on the sides. And add clear glass on the front doors. If it turns out they way I want it will be the TV stand and he DVD/dish will go under behind the glass. We'll see how it turns out but if my mind eye is right it will be cool. Buy a second piece. Same size. Or find a larger piece you love. Or paint over an old canvas. Sand a bit if it has lots of texture. Prime with any latex, doesn't have to be white...leftover primer is great for this. So are sample pots. Thanks, ladies! I do luv the workmanship on this piece & Qwen is the willowtree artist who made it...frame by DH & I love the combo...Qwen took the frame home & built the pc. around it's idea...I luv the base & the curves...awesome work!

So did you move this all around your garden or did you do most of it by pics you had on computer & adding frame to them??? Whatever they look great!! Jan

Thank you, nanagrandma...you already know about my Secret Garden in the pines ...with my swing...those pretty yellow & purple coneflowers & prairie beebalm have grown so much in the garden I planted directly behind the swing. It is still my fav place to go...and to grow...to meditate and pray & thank God for His many blessings. And I so luv taking pics...appreciate your comments.

I pooped out movin it around & it was high 80's...but will do more soon & find it a semi-permanent spot for a few weeks. Thanks! Jeanne S.

Wow, should have put the stand on wheels!! That really was a lot of work in the heat!! But photos are beautiful. Favorite I think, is of the red plant!! Jan

Wowzers! Love it! What an awesome idea! I love all the pictures but I think my favorite is the prairie flowers. I'm very partial to them. TFS

Beautiful pics! I really love the base of the living tree.

The bushy mandevilla is fantastic! I've got pink vines, and a white vine, but haven't seen the bushy type. And that deep color is awesome.

What a cool idea and how well Qwen interepreted what you wanted. Love the frame and the stand but then I have always been a fan of bent willow. My favorite is the birdhouses. I actually thought the stand was for the birdhouses and the frame was built in front of them. lol! But all the pictures are gorgeous. I just love what you do with old barnwood!
