Hello,

I am bran new to this forum and thought I would share a little bit about what plants I have. I love having plants in my house and my boyfriend is always getting mad when I bring yet another one home!

This is my beloved corn plant. I totally love it.

I got this Hoya from my mom. I haven't had it bloom yet, but I am hoping it will this year

The Hoya and a Spider Plant that I revived from almost death

My Money Tree that I got when it was a baby

My Shamrock that I got from my mother-in-law because I just loved hers.

A planter I got at Christmas time. Arrowhead, Spider, Poinsettia, Baby's Tears, Peace Lilly and another one I can't think of the name of it.

My one window in my kitchen. A Palm, Poinsettia, Bamboo, Ivy and Dracaena (I think that's what that is)

My Angelwing Begonia, another one I had since it was a baby.

My beautiful Snake Plant.

Arrowhead and not sure what the other one is

Not sure what this one is either

If you have any advice on how to make them look even better I am willing to hear it :)

Welcome to the forum, you have a wonderful collections. The last one is a pothos (aka) Epipremnum aureum. I have the same plant and they are so easy to grow.

Hi & welcome to Gardenweb! Great looking plants! Great to start the week with some good plant porn.

I think the other plant you don't know in your mixed planter may be Hypoestes (polka dot plant.) That pot concerns me, wondering if it has a drain hole in the bottom? The plants in there have different tolerances for light, not sure they're going to be happy together indefinitely. I might consider separating them. I don't know about baby's tears but the rest are low-light plants but the Poinsettia should need more light to continue to be in good health.

On the windowsill, that is a Dracaena marginata. Can't see the leaves clearly enough to tell if it's just the plain species or a 'Tricolor.'

Second to last pic, that's Cissus with your Syngonium.

What's going on in the corn plant pot?

These plants look pretty happy to me. Not sure your BF is a keeper but you didn't ask for advice about that...

Diana, I love that gazania too. Not what i expected in color either. Just hope my others get a chance to bloom too. Highaltransplanter, even with the rabbits eating them every year, I'm a sucker for the flowers and have more seeds already for next year too. The candy lily is similar to the blackberry lily from what i've see on line but the blackbery lily is all one color of orange for all the petals. At least that is what I've seen in pics. Now, a friend did get some blackberry lily seeds from T&M last year and WS them. they where supposed to be all different colors of lavender, pink, orange, red and bloom the first year too. Well the seeds all germinated and the fans are growing nicely too. But, unless by some miracle they get a huge, huge growth spirt, they are not going to bloom this year. So I doubt I will know if these seeds will bloom different colors. I also have leopard lily seedlings and not sue if they will be different either. Bakemom and Barb, I just love the easter egg plant and the eggs really do look like real eggs hanging off the plant. That is until Sept. then they start to ripen and slowly turn a real bright, bright yellow, ironically the color of the yolk inside an egg. I will have tons of seeds for them in the fall for trade and SASBE, so watch for the post and we can trade or SASBE for the seeds if you want some. Fgirl21, missed seeing you and your daughter at the swap. Hope we see you this coming year. We really did have a very nice time and the weather turned out well for the rain date. Hope we see you this coming spring. Get that act in gear and those WS seeds ready to do too. Angie, the candy lily are well worth the wait, They are really pretty and very delicate looking. Just wish the blooms lasted more than one day. Wouldn't say that I'm well yet, but a far cry from what I was before the surgery, when I could barely walk without falling, and much better than I was a few weeks ago. Still have a long way to go yet, but every day is better and able to do more. By Sept. I will be able to get my perennials in the ground. Just lots of hard work at physical therapy to get there.

oops, never noticed that the pic for the cosmos psyche didn't go through correctly. sorry about that but here is the cosmos psyche Northerner, I surprised that your double click are only about 18 inches tall. It's supposed to grow to 4 feet. I had some last year and they did get that tall. I wasn't impressed with them so traded the seeds from that last fall and didn't grow them this year. Finally figured out what the orange and yellow cosmos is. It's cosmos diablo and I forgot that I had WS those seeds this year. Just have no idea what the orange ones are and the red one. I didnt' have those last year and only sowed seeds that I saved of gazebo lavender sonata fushia psyche white candystripe picotee diablo gloria sonata lavender daydream seashells white seashells pink pied piper versailles red sonata white so where it came from, the red is beyond me. I have no idea what that little white and purple petunia is either. I only know that the seeds came from a very dark purple petunia and or a very pale pink petunia that my neighbor purchased just before a local nursery closed for the month of August. She couldn't say no to the price and she planted them all in one pot. So the seeds where a mix. I have a string around the flower so that I can save seeds from it and not mix them up with the other seeds. Highaltransplanter, my plants are huge, but the toms are still small. Last year some of my cherokee purple did crack on the top but they still tasted wonderful, wouldn't be without them. The extremes in weather temps and water can cause toms to crack, but to me that is part of growing your won tomatoes in the garden and enjoying them. Tiny tim has a sweet but a bit tart flavor to it, and I didn't find the toms that small when ripe, about the size of a sweet 100. My 25 year old daughter likes them better than the sweet 100. I never heard of the mini bush yellow cherry and couldn't find much about it when i did a search. sounds interesting though and one I would like to try as well. I should have plenty of saved seeds from the tiny tim and my other toms for trades in the fall. Angie, thanks for the complement, not sure I would say I am an awesome gardener though. Some of my plants are about as sick looking as you can get and not sure why. Some has to do with the craziest weather I have seen in my life. At the moment the news and weather people are telling me that more rain has fallen in the month of July where I live than has fallen since the 1920's. Gee, didn't need to make me feel worse about the weather and all the rain than I already do. And the severe thunderstorms that have moved through on almost a daily basis for almost 2 weeks has been unreal. But that's the life of a gardener. Some years are better than others and it's either feast or famine when it comes to good weather. A pic of one of the storms that went through about 2 weeks ago, taken from the back door. No, I don't live in the tropics or a tropical rain forest. I live in a suburb northwest of Boston MA.

Guten Morgen, Bennie. I agree with Moccasin, Jon and all the others... your hostas are beautifully grown... sehr schoene Pflanzen. I envy your Blue Umbrellas, mine doesn't look as blue or tall, having been planted in 2007... darn those tree roots. Your Autumn Frost as well is taller than mine, which is still hugging the ground in its third year. Ich muss auch sagen, dass Ihr Englisch ausgezeichnet ist. Wir lieben Ihre Bilder hier und hoffen, dass Sie oefter zurueckkommen. My German is rusty, I used a dictionnary and compensated with an "e" because my keyboard has no umlaut. Auf Wiedersehn! Melissa,very nice,you have done a lot of hard work,and great planting, as you have moved forward,not always easy to do,just look at how big every thing had gotton in such a short amount of time.Thanks for sharing this with us,always so much fun to see what others have done,and the progress they have made,yours is great. I like your plants, and such nice windows to accommodate them.

I have an 8 y/o hoya carnosa "krimson queen", your plant looks similar to it. If it is, it can bloom on old and new growth. Flowering is difficult to achieve indoors. When I put mine outside during summer it thanked me with 5 fragrant flower heads. Reminded me of tootsie rolls.

Hello,

The corn plant has some edging that you would use in your garden outside because my cat likes to climb in the plant (since the pot is so big) and do her business in there. Not really good for the plant I would imagine. So we put that in there so that she wouldn't be able to do that anymore.

The one with all the plants in it get lots of light. It's on the kitchen table which is right in front of our patio doors. So far all the plants seem to be growing pretty good. Unfortunately it doesn't have drainage holes but I have noticed that if I over-water the water will leak out the bottom somehow. I am just really, really careful when I water that one.

Oops, forgive me. I've been making vague statements lately. My mind is elsewhere .....Yes the scent reminded me of tootsie rolls, I think the flowers probably taste like something else :)

hmmmm...if you've read any of my posts of late...looking back on'em I have to admit I look pretty scatterbrained...which might be an accurate account of things. Oh well,right? :)

My mom [cough'ty years ago half way across the world :-) ] used to have the kind of hoya that would have full nectar drops hang from every flower. As a kid, I used to stick my tongue under the flowers and drink the nectar. It was very sweet and I was fine. (But do this at your own risk, of course.)

By the way, the poor thing grew in a small pot (the hoya, not my mom) in a horrible soil hard as a rock with all the nutrients sucked out of it long prior, never repotted, never fertilized, even watered highly irregularly - it felt like not for months! (although childhood memories are often exaggerated.) Yet it had one or two runners running literally around a big window and back, and flowered profusely every single year for many years. It was quite amazing.

She must have watered it when you weren't looking! lol

Although I've kept Hoya off and on I've never had one bloom for me so it'll be a while before I will get the chance to do anything so bee-like to it(perhaps we were pollinators in a past life?lol)

Ever tried to make tea from honeysuckle blooms? Seasoned with honey it tastes JUST like it smells. :)

Tea from honeysuckle? This is the first I heard and I am very excited! I've been having plants used for tea in the back of my head for so long, it's going to explode. I need a tea garden, fast. Can this be done with any honeysuckle? I wish I knew about 2 weeks ago. I had a plethora of wild, fragrant honeysuckle in bloom. I'm starting rugosa roses for rose petal/rose hip teas (maybe jelly too?). Waiting for one of my houseplants to bloom so I can confirm if it's Arabian tea jasmine (yay homemade jasmine tea!).

Sorry this is completely irrelevant to the topic. Any updates on how the OPS plants are doing?
