New garden pics, heavy on the pics, PART 1

I'm getting around a lot more in the gardens, so here are some new pics from the last couple of days, posting the pics in 2 different posts.

Torenia, supposed to be torenia lemond drop from Burpee. does say it could have a "pink blush to it if the plant is stressed". doesn't look like a pink blush to me but it is pretty.

Finally a gazania bloom that the rabbits didn't get. have 4 more plants with flower buds on them, but just figure they will get eaten again, so enjoying my one and only bloom

Alison, I'm checking that ebony flower every day so I don't miss the seeds. Funny, it's the only ebony one. How come only one flower on it though? Any ideas how to get more than one flower after I get the seeds from this one? I love the painted tongue too. Trying to get the seeds from those too. I want lots of them next year. I love gazania too, but those rabbits just won't leave them alone no matter where I plant them, they find them. PM2 The candy lily where WS 3 years ago and just started to bloom Aug 6. Funny to cause I was going to move the fans this fall to a different location because they weren't blooming and was so surprised to see the flower stems full of buds show up all but over night. They are planted in an area that gets morning sun and then sun again later in the afternoon. They will get more sun after a big oak tree is taken down. These are all the same color though I know they come in different colors. Hoping for seeds. I'm pretty sure they can grow in full sun to part shade. Mine are in part shade. Fran

I am so happy to see your pictures again! I was here back then, but mostly lurking, which I still do a lot because I am not very good about id-ing my plants since the dogs destroyed my labels and I gave up There are a few I know the names of, but not too many. You were one of my secret mentors when I started my hosta planting! I am sorry your 'When I Dream' was a disappointment, but there is so much to love about your gardens! Thank you for that!!!

I love that Candy Lily! It looks very similar to the Blackberry Lily that I have.

The Gazania is very nice! I am growing those for the first time this year, and it seemed like it took forever for them to start blooming, but I'm really enjoying them, and have already bought seeds of some other colors to try next year.

Diana, I love that gazania too. Not what i expected in color either. Just hope my others get a chance to bloom too.

Highaltransplanter, even with the rabbits eating them every year, I'm a sucker for the flowers and have more seeds already for next year too.

The candy lily is similar to the blackberry lily from what i've see on line but the blackbery lily is all one color of orange for all the petals. At least that is what I've seen in pics.

Now, a friend did get some blackberry lily seeds from T&M last year and WS them. they where supposed to be all different colors of lavender, pink, orange, red and bloom the first year too. Well the seeds all germinated and the fans are growing nicely too. But, unless by some miracle they get a huge, huge growth spirt, they are not going to bloom this year. So I doubt I will know if these seeds will bloom different colors.

I also have leopard lily seedlings and not sue if they will be different either.

Bakemom and Barb, I just love the easter egg plant and the eggs really do look like real eggs hanging off the plant. That is until Sept. then they start to ripen and slowly turn a real bright, bright yellow, ironically the color of the yolk inside an egg.

I will have tons of seeds for them in the fall for trade and SASBE, so watch for the post and we can trade or SASBE for the seeds if you want some.

Fgirl21, missed seeing you and your daughter at the swap. Hope we see you this coming year. We really did have a very nice time and the weather turned out well for the rain date.
Hope we see you this coming spring. Get that act in gear and those WS seeds ready to do too.

Angie, the candy lily are well worth the wait, They are really pretty and very delicate looking. Just wish the blooms lasted more than one day.

Wouldn't say that I'm well yet, but a far cry from what I was before the surgery, when I could barely walk without falling, and much better than I was a few weeks ago. Still have a long way to go yet, but every day is better and able to do more.
By Sept. I will be able to get my perennials in the ground. Just lots of hard work at physical therapy to get there.
