I just love that pic with the candy lily, with all those blooms open at once! So pretty. Save seeds from that ebony scabiosa, dang you! All I got was white, you got the only ebony one!

And I do like that gazania, and the painted tongue. Love those veins in the flowers!

Very pretty four o'clocks, Fran. Gazanias are pretty, too bad about the rabbits. I was thinking of growing some next year, but I really don't want to attract more rabbits. But I was thinking of putting them in the front yard, away from the veggie garden. I wonder if they would avoid the front yard.

I love that candy lily too! Very pretty. When did it start blooming and were they winter sowed? Are they all orange?
Are they supposed to be planted in sun or shade?

Alison, I'm checking that ebony flower every day so I don't miss the seeds. Funny, it's the only ebony one. How come only one flower on it though? Any ideas how to get more than one flower after I get the seeds from this one?

I love the painted tongue too. Trying to get the seeds from those too. I want lots of them next year.

I love gazania too, but those rabbits just won't leave them alone no matter where I plant them, they find them.

PM2 The candy lily where WS 3 years ago and just started to bloom Aug 6. Funny to cause I was going to move the fans this fall to a different location because they weren't blooming and was so surprised to see the flower stems full of buds show up all but over night.
They are planted in an area that gets morning sun and then sun again later in the afternoon. They will get more sun after a big oak tree is taken down.
These are all the same color though I know they come in different colors. Hoping for seeds.
I'm pretty sure they can grow in full sun to part shade. Mine are in part shade.

Great photos, Fran. Love those broken four-o'clocks. Do you know if gazania comes true from seed? I collected some from a yellow gazania.
A nice surprise for me tonight was seeing my painted tongue in bloom. It is purple.

Not easy to get the seeds from the painted tongue. I've had very few pods to collect. Looks like I'm going to have to trade for some or buy some seeds.

Bobbie, the gazania should come true to seed. Those plants where from snatched seeds of them from a local nursery. They all came true to the parent plant for me. Even the pink ones I have.

I got a few seeds from mine before the rabbits got them. The only 2 I have left are 2 pink ones in a different flower bed than the others where in.

I'm going to grow them again next year. Just got to figure out a way to keep the rabbits away from them.

Some of the candylily flowes have made pods. Hope to have some seeds for trades but then again, who knows if the critters will leave them for me. They like seed pods too.
