Pictures of my container garden (very pic heavy)
Comments (6)Very Nice Pics. I have just become insterested in expanding my garden into some containers, also, to allow more space for bigger crops. Very motivating and exciting. Nichol...See MoreSome pictures from my garden today (pic heavy!)
Comments (32)Thank you, everyone, for your nice comments. Jadie-Berry Smoothie is a more intense pink in spring and Georgia Plum is truly plum. GP is also pretty small in size. Both glow in the garden and are worth having, IMHO. GP packs quite a whollop of color into its little size. They both age differently (color wise) as well. Berry smoothie gets almost a grape color to it with very veiny leaves. DGregory-Ophir is quite a show stopper in the spring, but unfortunately it does go green in the summer. Still an attractive hosta, though and well worth growing. Mine is young yet. I've seen pics of mature ones and it's pretty amazing when it grows up. Dark Star is definitely worth growing. It's truly beautiful, which is why (I think) a lot of people have it. It gets darker in color later in the season, hence the name. Mocc-I think your boat with hostas idea sounds awesome! It could be such a focal point. Make sure to post pics if you actually decide to do it. I'd love to see how it turns out....See MorePics from my garden today (pic heavy)
Comments (28)Thanks, Jo. It seems a spring fever has come upon me, and I spent almost the entire weekend browsing hosta catalogs and reading posts and doing some research about hostahostahosta. So....what else is new with the rest of the forum? Don keeps his garden so perfect, my first impulse is to ask him, "How many gardeners do you employ full time to keep it that nice?" Mine will never be so lovely. Somewhere I seem to remember pictures of the massive construction of curbed bed borders and paved pathways of this garden. THAT is total dedication, and also self-knowledge....Don knows his interest in hosta is a life long affair. I have to admire the garden on all points....See MoreJust a few pics from my garden today
Comments (28)Very short driveway, and that safety orange cone by the boulder? Does that remind anyone backing out of the garage to be careful? :) And Don, it was no less than what I expected to find in any garden you touched, or really any project you set yourself to accomplish. Great detail in the use of white to define the hardscape. Love the shape of that arbor, breaking away from always straight lines one comes to expect with wood structures. Honestly, do you do all this work, including maintenance, yourself? Do you have hired help? How large is your garden anyway, to have all these well laid out non-cramped beds. Did you landscape it, because it is very professional looking. And, I've lost my way to THE LISTS....where are they now? I know some were moved to Pieterje's site, or so I think, and I cannot find it. Looking for the THEME GARDENS specifically. Need to submit a few more. I now have the HOSTA FINDER to browse through, need to see your lists. Sorry if it is off topic a bit, but I was going to email you with this question, and here you post, so......excuse please? (but where is it)...See MoreIowaGma
