Spray buffers- Olpea- anyone?

In recent years I've been buffering my water to a lower pH to protect efficacy of certain pesticides. I have sprung for expensive products like Miller's Spray Aide to perform this function but am interested in less expensive alternatives.

Seems I've heard citric acid suggested as well as vinegar. Anyone want to elaborate on the use of these or any other products I might use? Where does one purchase citric acid, if I remembered that one correctly? Is the clearest most refined vinegar the best to use? Any general suggestion about how much of any of these products per gallon (or 100 gallons) of water needed to reduce pH from, say, 7 to 5
