Hi All, We purchased a money tree a year ago. It was doing great: fast growing, green, lush, and lots of enjoyment. Then, it seemed to be outgrowing its pot, and about two months ago I re-potted it. Now, I am getting yellow leaves (about 1 leaf turns yellow per day). The new growth (top canopy) after the re-pot is also very lime green and droopy. But, there was fast growth at first. I am so worried, I love this plant. I want to care for it before the poor leaves/whatever is wrong spreads. Any advice? Based on the literature, I think the roots are holding too much water. But, I am worried to re-pot into more porous soil, since I just re-potted. I've attached a few pictures to aid in our discussion.

J0nd03- that ft.mcnair is a beautiful tree. Ill have to see what the specs are on it as far as tolerances/preferences. Tornado- no offense taken at all, I'm quite long winded myself (I am a car salesman!) and I love taking politics but unfortunately from what I have learned (perhaps its the area we live in?) most discussions about politics/govt matters turn into a pissing contest/yelling match because when someone has a differeing view than I yet cannot support their claims/reasons for their beliefs they get defensive and resort to un civilized behavior. I think it's hilarious but sure you have experenced it as well! ;) I really appreciate the info your giving me. From what I have read/picked up from folks (a good friend of mine is a horticulture major/landscape business owner) these beech trees will maintain their vibrant foliage as long as they are kept hydrated. I'm site the tree in your pics gets pruned/pest control done professionally and regularly but I'm not sure about the watering part too much?

As promised, here are a few more pictures and details for the backsplash. I just peaked at the boxes of left over tile. The backsplash is Alyse Edwards Tile and Stone, Gigi's Groovy Glass Stiix - Stairway to Heaven. I kid you not - that's the name. I never would have thought of it. In fact, when I saw it before it was put on the wall I didn't think I liked it. It is plain white until grouted and I didn't think there would be enough contrast with all the white. But grouted, I love it because it takes on a greenish/blue tint. When I post pictures of my kitchen (sometime next year), you'll recognize the backsplash. My MIL over ordered by 20 sq feet and gave me the left overs. (I mentioned that she's great, right?) Re my comment about the sinks in the original post. I meant to say that the prep sink's interior is only 13 inches. The 36 incher is huge. Re the ice box latches they do not spring open. They hold the cabinets closed nicely, look pretty, and have not been difficult to keep clean even with little ones around. As for my comment about putting a stone backsplash behind the range, this is the issue. The Wolf 48 inch range that is in the kitchen vents the steam from the ovens up the back directly to the location where the tile backsplash meets the back of the range. I've noticed that the grout is starting to yellow a little bit. Maybe from the oil and fat in the steam? I've seen pictures of a four inch stainless steel backsplash that is attached to the back of the range. I also saw a picture of a stone backsplash in a kitchen magazine that was lovely. So using my MIL's kitchen as an example, I would keep the tile backsplash behind the range except for a four inch space directly above the burners/vent. It's difficult to explain without a picture and there may be problems with this idea that I have not thought of yet. But it sure looked pretty in the magazine and seemed like it would help protect the area of the backsplash that is most likely to get splashed. As for my kitchen.... it will actually be pretty similar to my MIL's. I like to think that we've collaborated. My kitchen plans and materials were selected before she started her design. Funnily enough, her layout is very, very similar to mine. And as I've shared, I've been influenced by her kitchen. The main difference is that I am planning Green Mountain Original PA soapstone for my perimeter counters and white princess quartzite for my island. I will have fewer glass cabinet fronts and more warm wood accents to warm up the space a touch. A few of you asked for more information about the stone that I'm considering so I added a couple pictures of the slabs I've looked at (although the quartzite is MUCH prettier IRL). I think this should about cover all the questions. Cheers.

wow! I'm glad I asked. I was about to cut up the other one, too. So, just to be clear--I have the two sister plants--one that I cut up, and one that I held back on. I agree with you that this looks similar to underwatering--but I do remember it looking a bit underwatered not long ago, and giving it lots of water to perk up, so I'm fairly certain that it's overwatered (especially since I'm squeezing water out of the wilted leaves). Just to make sure--despite that the very bottom near the trunk is quite squishy now, judging by the inside of the sister plant after I cut it up, maybe I'll hold off on cutting up this one for the time being --- but I should trim the roots of BOTH plants (?) here is the plant still in one piece, that currently still is squishy on the base stem right near the roots: And if you're curious, here is everything I have from the sister plant that I already cut up (i assumed the base trunk was rotten, so made several mini trees out of it)--I assume (hope) I cut them in a good spot, but can still correct if it doesn't look good: Per your suggestion, I trimmed the little portruding piece of branch off the trunk and see if the trunk comes back to life (maybe I got too close?). Here it is now: I think the cuttings for this are clean and not rotting. They are basically firm. Maybe I'll give them a little bonsai wire in addition to some rocks so they can stand up... As far as repotting--the rocks in the white container were just decorative on top of the soil, and just got mixed up. I use 50/50 perlite/succulent soil---in fact, I think you taught me that a couple of years back! :) .... I would be curious if you have an opinion on using rooting hormone on the stem. I notice in your other thread you suggest cinnamon... would either one suffice? Here is what I have: also--some websites--including some of the threads here--say that I should wait to repot until roots are showing.... but that could take weeks, I would think. Is it ok to repot without roots? Maybe I should use more perlite in that case (75/25)? Anyway, thanks again!
