Pachira (Money Tree) Problems, any experts?
Comments (18)Josh, I'm a horribly impatient person in the spring! I notoriously plant seeds too early & then worry over the last few frosts of the season. I don't know what my deal is, LOL! I think being able to go outside & enjoy the fresh air & see everything slowly turning green, after a long & cold miserable winter, just gives me that itch, starting some time in late February & driving me to temptation in late March or early April, ALWAYS. I wonder if it's because I happen to have some extra cash laying around to spend on plants at that time of year or just the fact the weather's finally so enjoyable. *shrug* I think I am going to have a similar experience to you, my pachira's already sulking & pissed off at me. All my other plants seem not to mind, which is weird. Because I disturbed the pachira's roots least of all & yet it's the one making the most fuss over being repotted. I guess that's what I get for being such an impatient mess! I moved my plants outside for their vacation today, but I think they're going to have to come back in tonight. Our low's forecast around 50 & I'm not sure they'll all appreciate that. What do you think? Teen, thanks for the good wishes! I'm hoping that by the fall, all my plants will be happy & thriving :)...See MorePachira Aquatica (Money tree)
Comments (3)Justin, since the trunk is wrinkled.......... Not a good sign. If you fear repotting, 'I'd repot,' insert a stick/stake deep inside container. If the stick comes out moist, the soil is still wet. Don't water. Wait a few days and retest. What size and material is the container? I don't care for self-watering pots, but some people swear by them. Daily watering in a self-watering pot is murder. Did your friend water the soil or down a tube? Can you place the plant outside? Since it's so warm, the soil will dry faster. If it was my Pachira, I'd carefully remove 'and toss' its current pot, add fresh, well-draining soil, pot up, then place in bright light. But it's up to you, of course. Good luck, Justin...Toni...See MoreMy braided Pachira (money tree) also needs help
Comments (14)Hi - Hoping I can get a some help to save my tree... I took some pictures which are below. Only one of my four stems seems to be healthy and growing new leaves. The other three are in various levels of sick. Help! I usually only water when the soil is dry. Lately I've let it dry out a lot because I thought maybe I was over watering it. The tree means a lot to me and I really don't want it to die! Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. This is the only healthy branch. This is the one that's the most sick. You can see that it's started to change color and wrinkle/twist. This one's leaves shriveled up. This is the only healthy branch. and here's the whole tree... looking sad. After reading a lot of these threads, I've stopped watering it. I think I over watered it this winter. I'm not sure if the wrinkled branch is dead or not. Is it possible to cut the tip of it off? Will it regrow? What about the one with the wrinkled leaves? Hoping someone has some advice! Thanks! Carlos...See MoreAdvice on taking care of a Money Tree (Pachira Aquatica)
Comments (6)@ken_adrian Adrian MI cold Z5 - No I didn't re-pot, should I re-pot it? I'm not really sure how I would go about doing that. I know there's a few guides online, but would you be able to point me to a reliable one please? I've moved it back to it's corner where it get some light from the window. I'll leave it there and stop taking it for walkies lol. I think I misinterpreted the plant being stressed (I didn't even know plants could get stressed) as it needing sunlight or water. I bought from IKEA so it's probably not used to direct outdoor sunlight. They had a plastic bag over the branches and leaves so the leaves were already wrinkled when I bought it. @floral_uk z.8/9 SW UK - I live in York, I'll keep it indoors until mid May and take it out doors then. By being able to keep it outside until September or October, do you mean I should keep the plant indoors again once the temperature starts to drop? I thought the holes were was just from physical damage, but you watch enough YouTube videos and read enough articles online and you start getting it in your head that it's some sort of pest problem or disease....See Morestewartsjon
