Anything Special Needed to Plant Blackberries?

I'm planting three Apache thornless blackberry bushes (well, twigs at this point!) in pretty clay soil that currently has flowers growing. I amended the soil about 4 years ago when I first planted the flowers, but haven't done anything since. It's typical New England clay soil, slightly acid, and I dug in some peat, composted cow manure and compost to amend the soil a little before planting the flowers.

I have to dig out the flowers now and want to add my amendments, then plant the blackberries. Anything special I should add? I was going to add more compost and more composted cow manure - I'm in the city and can only get bagged amendments other than my own compost.

Thanks!

Lisa
