If you can post of picture that would help.
Cutting the stalks down those won't regrow but you should get new stalks.
Also what is the type of soil? If it's full of peat and hard the plant can't absorb any water and it will all just run to the bottom. Are there holes for drainage in the pot?

The soil is from the original potting soil and I put in hyponex potting soil, very little peat. I used Schulz plant food. The pot has drainage at the bottom as well as a opening on the side to put water in. I usually split the water between the side opening and on top. I just so tall it's starting to lean. I tried to find where to attach a phot, but I couldn't find it. The instruction state to click edit in preview page and to use internet explorer. I tried that as well as a couple of other browsers. Maybe the site doesn't like my Mac computer :). Thanks for any help.

Ckuhn, how much sun is your PL getting? Although, people are told they are low-light plants, PL's need sun..especially if you want blooms. Bright light is fine.
Is your plant in a window? If so, which direction is it facing?
Often, store clerks tell customers, PL can be placed in dark corners..Not so. Most living plants require light.

Another thing you can try..You mentioned using Shultz. Does it say for Foliage or Flowering plants? What are its 3 numbers..NPK.
If you're using All Purpose/Foliage fertilizer, alternate with Flowering Type fertilizer..so say you feed once a month..the first month use the Houseplant type, second month, flowering, continue.
There's a trick getting PL's to bloom. Withhold water until soil is really really dry. Then, apply enough water it escapes from drainage holes. Within a week it should flower.
Warning: When soil is left to dry completely, a few leaves could yellow..If this happens, cut leaf and stem from soil line. Good luck, Toni

I have a PL that is huge, I got it from my grandmas funneral 4 years ago. It has been doing well and growing and producing flowers. Heres what I do. . .

It is in a 10" pot (big I know but ths plant is huge)with drainage holes.
I repotted it using Miracle Grow potting soil.
It sits in front of a west facing window where it gets lots of sun and full direct sun for about 4 hours a day.

When the leaves start droop slightly (not wilt and fall down, just hang less erect) I take it to the bathtub and water it w/ a 3 gallon bucket, let that completely drain and repeat 2 more times. I let it completely drain before setting back in front of the window. How often I water depends on the time of year, sometimes I water it every week (summer) and in the winter I water it approx. every 10-15 days. I let the plant tell me when it needs a drink. I NEVER let the leaves wilt, there is a fine line between drooping slightly and wilting, as in a few hours. For instance, I noticed one night at bedtime that it needed water and was going to water it the next day. The next morning it had wilted, but after a good drink it perked right back up. This is very damaging to the plant, so I don't let it happen if I can help it.

I feed w/miracle grow but not very often. It blooms three - four times a year for me.
