I bet they will survive. Trim off any limbs that go yellow, and if you see splits in the stem at the base cover it with dirt so it can heal / root some more.

I've done this more times than I would like to admit... so I speak from experience lol.

You might lose some leaves and some squash, but as long as the damage is only on the leaf stems and not the whole plant stem you should be ok! I was cracking up reading this!!! Thats something I would do!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!-Cassie

Thanks for the input! I hope they make it because they've both got fruit on them. The really squished one seems to have perked up a little bit, and the leaves aren't wilty yet, but now that I'm not trying to see through eyes blurred with the beginnings of a full on "ugly-face" cry, I'm noticing a couple more split stems than I originally saw.

My little zucchini misstep has really set the tone for the whole days, lol. It never ceases to amaze me how much my garden's success or failure can affect my mood. You'd think I wouldn't be so concerned because it's my first garden, and it's just supposed to be a fun hobby, but that may be the same reason why I'm so overly emotionally invested in it. It has the ability to make me jump up and down with joy (literally - you should have seen me cut away my first zucchini), and conversely, stomp around in a foul mood.

Right now, I am cursing my small walkway, and my comparatively large behind.

Grumble.

i think they will survive as well. my 20 month old son hacked mine in half when it was small and it grew back in about a week.

Oh heavens. I sat at my screen and laughed til I had tears rolling down my face. I am so sorry for your zucchini, but I'm giggling. I think everyone has a story about a garden mishap and we are so much the better for not keeping these gems to ourselves. I will admit to picking a tomato hornworm off the plant (attached to a long tomato stem, I might add) and swinging it around to fling it over the fence. Long story short, it came back, hit me in the head and I was screaming and running all over the deck. Nothing, I mean nothing, tops green hornworm goo on your hair. I think your squash will survive. The title of this thread mentioned your butt and your zucchini. It promised pics. I see lots of zucchini pics but no butt pics. Therefore, I cannot prognosticate about the survival of your zucchini.

LOL, Cbad!! I can't even imagine. My neighbors would think someone was trying to murder me, for sure. In terms of bugs, I am about as squeamish as they come. I won't squish anything without a gloved hand (just about every day, you can witness me running at a breakneck speed back into the house for my gloves to squish something that I'm sure will fly/jump/scoot away if I'm not back in 2.2 seconds), so a hornworm in the hair... oh gosh, I might have just died on the spot. After screaming bloody murder first.

HA! I hope you were wearing leather pants and a leather shirt! I went digging in my zucchini earlier today and I'm all scratched up on my arms. I can only imagine my tush getting cut up. OUCH!

They should be fine. Prop it up if you need to. Mine has completely fallen over twice before and it always props back up eventually. Someone mentioned to me today to make a "support bra" for mine. Could work for you too. :)

As big a zucchini plants gets it would take a real big Butt to kill it! I mean a BIG Butt. If it dies that should tell you something. I think your zucchini will be fine. LOL

If the main stem is intact, then it will regrow. If I were you, in addition to watering it I'd pick all the fruit off of it and give it a chance to divert all energy to repairing the damage. Zucc fruits are best when they're small anyway.

Zuchinni can take some beats. They'll be fine. I don't even think J.Lo could take out a zuch that size.

you have to realize that they will come back from a lot BUT
even a hailstorm that shredded every leaf on mine didn't kill my zucchinis last year BUT
the real question is: did you stretch properly before and after performing the zucchini butt dive with 2 1/2 twist?

OMG you folks are too funny !! I am sitting here laughing more than I have in decades !! Hornworms will always make me smile now, but of course they won't know why, and they will be very afraid I am sure. And zuccini won't ever be a pain in the (ahem) butt when I have too many neither. LOL I am so glad I wandered in here today.

Bwahahaha. Evidently, my butt is not SO out of control that the zukes couldn't handle it. They're looking to be just fine, and I even hacked off a 6-incher from the most crushed one today. As we speak, I am eating the fruits of my ass-smashed plants, so...YAY!

As far as what I was wearing (lol), I fell in wearing yoga pants, flip flops and a tank top. Unfortunately, I couldn't tell you if I got stabbed or not, as the shock from the zucchini butt dive with a 2 1/2 twist was enough to render me totally impervious to pain.

Knock on wood, no SVBs around here so far. I don't even know what the moth looks like, although now that I've put it out there in the universe, I'm sure Mother Nature will want to have a(nother) laugh at my expense, and send in some beasties.

As if my tomato psyllids weren't enough. (Please, Ma Nature... no other bad bugs. Pwetty pwease.) Seriously, nobody around here can believe I have them because nobody ELSE has them. I hope I don't get some other rare-to-the-area bug. My zucchini fall was enough of an adventure for me.
