Not sure if any of you have done this, but i'm running out of yard space and i just bought 2 bareroot chestnut trees. They are 8ft, and i don't want to lose them!

I decided i should cut down a couple trees to make room for these. If i plant them now, i would not have space to fell a tree.

So i'm wondering how i can preserve these things. Can i put them in the ground then dig them up later? I'm not knowledgeable about risks of killing it when doing this. I think i remember visiting a nursery and folks had bareroots in the ground laying at an angle. How long can i keep it planted before i dig up and replant? Please let me know risks and techniques. It's been a few days since i've had the trees sitting around in a plastic bag bareroot, and i'm worrying that i'm killing them already. Thanks so much.
