Carla, peach curl infection doesn't take place year 'round, it only takes place once when the buds swell. Basically, asexual spores get washed into the buds and there they infect all the future leaves to come out. That's why spraying is totally ineffective once you discover you have peach curl. So usually it's sufficient to spray your favorite fungicide (organic or synthetic) right at bud swell in the Spring. However, to be safe, it's best to spray once in the Fall right after leaf fall as well to reduce the spores going into Winter. In a warm year, peach curl may already be in the leaves but if conditions are warm and dry, then the peach curl fungus can't grow. It likes it best between 50 and 70F with plenty of rain.

Of al my peaches/nectarines, it is the 2nd most vunerable, only Flordaprince is a worse Curl magnet. You have to keep after it yearly or it will debilitate the tree until it dies. Carla in Sac

I chopped down my Bella Gold peacotum. It's a beautiful piece of fruit but no where nearly as good as Orangered apricot that ripened at the same time. My tree had very curled up leaves again this year. Maybe someone else will have a different opinion but here it was no contest, Orangered by TKO in one swing. Anymore I don't have time or room for pretty faces without substance. I like Spice Zee. Agree with Patty that the texture is smoother than most nectarine. But it's no better than Arctic Jay and not nearly as good as Honey Royale for my taste. I was eating all three at the same time although Honey Royale is somewhat later. Mine has some russeting even in the greenhouse. Not an issue for me. My Sweet Treat pluerry fruit is still rock hard. The fruit is well colored but no bigger than my biggest sweet cherry. I was expecting it to be earlier but being just planted this year it got a late start. Bay Laurel says it ripens in 2-3 weeks so guess it's not late. It is basically a nectarine. I did it by taste, and nectarines will ripen off the vine some too. I can't believe it's 4 years since I posted on this thread. I still have the tree. The first two years it produced, the fruit was rather watery so not very good, quite bland. The 3rd year it produced fruit that was amazing. i was getting ready to pull this tree. Glad I gave it a chance. best stone fruit last year! Back to ripeness now I just check my journal when i picked them last year and i find most fruit ripens within a 2 week period year to year. Sometimes more, but most years harvests are close. So in my zone I picked it August 31st last year. It was perfect and as stated the best of the stone fruit.
