Other than sitting in the Garden all night waiting for the Deer that has been nibbling my beans, I read several messages like the one I am going to put in quotes below...

This came from a wine site..grapes vines.......using Irish spring soap.......

What do you think..have you tried it........?

"i bought 16 bars of sweet green generic soap [1 for each end of the 8 rows] and a bunch more for the trees in the new orchard. i drilled a hole throught the middle of each bar and, using mechanic wire, i hung the bars. absolutely no problems for the rest of last year or, as of today, for this year, with any deer. absolutely no sign of deer on our property.

by the way, we are located in prime deer country, being surrounded by corn fields and woods and marshes. i believe it works, and i suggest it as an easy and cheap preventative. the bars lasted all season last year, and i am using them again this year. about 1/2 of each bar is left. good luck. "
