I wanted to share a little walk through my garden I posted over in the California Gardening Forum for all the great folks on this forum who have been so helpful in assisting me to pick out my fruit trees. I think my garden will be so lovely, and I'll be getting a good amount of fruit this year. Next year, of course, will be twice as productive, but I'm very excited to see that so far, everything is thriving. All my trees are on their on drip system, have been innoculated with Mycorrhazae, have had about 1' of worm castings mulched in the wells and I just laid down organic fruit tree fertilizer. They are all happy campers, and even my very small and delicate Kona Sharwill, Jan Boyce and Nimlioh avos are doing well, very well despite a wee nip a few weeks ago (they're all getting covered tonight, as we're getting down to 32 or lower tonight). Thanks for those fantastic pictures! There's nothing more delicious than freshly picked citrus (especially those oranges). You're right though, it is sad to see that orchard going to waste and many of the SoCal suburbian neighborhoods were built on old citrus groves with some of the magnificent trees still standing in peoples' backyards. In some neighborhoods, you can stand by one of the citrus trees and then notice that several trees in adjacent yards are all in a line. Don't worry too much about the lemon tree as I've seen them grow pretty rapidly.

I also always liked the nice privacy screen and windbreak provided by those Italian cypress.

I hope you did get a chance to cover them tonight! Its pretty cold for SoCal!

Trees, they are my joy. I lost over a dozen trees this winter, due to all kinds of things, but it is so sad. My yard just looks so barren and awful in the spring..but my trees, the are so precious to me. I actually have dozens of new trees on order coming this year..I can't wait..well better we are getting snow today. The only trees in the yard in the photos that I didn't plant are the large ash tree and one large maple, the rest are all my babies. I have 5 acres and about 2 are perennials..I'll share a few more here..

Br. Arif, When I look at your gardens I am amazed and in awe. You truley have created a world of beauty around you. When I look at my small sun room with the dreary weather outside, and my plants in pots, they appear like birds in a cage when compared to your gardens. Thanks Cher, that's much appriciated =) Ken - Most definetely, I'll get some better pics this week and post in a new thread. I have a semi round bed to the right of the arbor that I'm working on for fall plantings. Right now I have roundup down waiting for the grass to die. coniferjoy - You never know... I'm not sure how large this project will get 15-20 years from now =)... If I run out of room in my backyard, it'll be time for more brush cutting lol. I have another 200 x 500 feet on standby just incase. I actually took my yard back 50 feet just to make room for those beds. I'm relieved I didn't spell any of the other names wrong. Will get Wingle's Weeper fixed.

Thank you all for the nice comments. Kpaq, that is a pulsitilla seed head, I like it better than the flower itself. Deanna, I'll post a few more of that bed with pretty much hosta visable, it is full of heucheras,irises,hellebores,bleeding hearts,garden phlox, you name it, it's in there! whenever your ready! I"ll divide those hosta and you can come on down and get em! weeds make me crazy, I spend well over an hour a day on my hands and knees..
