Can't help you on the peaches, but the apple is just what you described; the rootstock is producing aerial burr knots, where it is trying to grow roots. This is a property of the rootstock which makes it very easy and productive to propagate clonally in stool beds, but causes these knots that are an entry point for insects, specifically wooly aphid.

The solution is to plant them deeply, with only an inch or two of rootstock showing above the ground. But after the fact, you could build a little raised planter of stones around it and fill with soil up to the graft union which will allow the roots to grow.

Posting pictures here is pretty easy. I've posted instructions in this forum many many times, but will do it again in hopes it will help.

One of the easiest ways to provide your photo to be embedded into a post is to upload it onto an image hosting site such as Photobucket, Flickr, etc. That should be pretty straight forward, and the individual sites will give instructions on how to get your photos uploaded to their site when you sign up.

Once your picture has been uploaded, find its web address by right clicking on the image and copying the image location. Some sites may even provide the address in a text box below the photo for your convenience.

Let's say, as an example, that the address of the picture you want to post is http://somepicturesite.com/yourpicture.jpg

To embed the picture into a post, use the command
img src="http://somepicturesite.com/yourpicture.jpg">;

For larger pictures, it would be very very very helpful to add a width attribute. Do do so, just add width=600 after the second quotation mark. 600 is a reasonable width for Gardenweb forums and won't mess up the formatting of your post causing people to have to pan around to read the text. So, for larger pictures, the command above could be rewritten as:
img src="http://somepicturesite.com/yourpicture.jpg"; width=600>

Note that I had to use special characters to get the commands above to show up here without turning into pictures, but you can use them as shown (with the correct image location, of course).

I had rotated many of the pics, but for some reason when I uploaded them they were rotated again. Sorry for the inconvienence.

About an hour ago I cut a limb off one of the plum trees, and I just disected it. I did not see any anything that my novice eyes would regonize as a bug. To me it looked like the limb was diying from the inside out. I will take some photos tomorrow and try to find another way to put them up besides flickr.

But, I'm not sure giving these instructions even helps. Like in this case, Craig either just ignored the post, was too lazy to try it, or had some technical problem. I'm always miffed when people want help but are unwilling to post pictures after I go to the trouble to give detailed instructions, but it seems pretty common. Oh well.

Brandon7, I am trying to get the pics here. I am not lazy and appreciate your help, but I thought you said I could use Flickr. Why is that not good enough for you? I really need some help here. On another website someone suggested it may be fungal canker. Can anyone verify this for me, and if it is what fungicide should I use?

I just went outside and examined the trees more closely. In one of the peaches on the trunk very close to the ground where the bark looks like a canker I saw a extremley tiny "larvi" of something. It was in the size of mm. I only saw one. Also both of the plums are ozzing amber at ground level where the roots meet the trunk. We are having spring like conditions down here in alabama. There was one "tiny hole" that was ozzing clear between the ground level and the graft union. I am starting to think that I have a combo of peach borers and cankers.
