cukes flowering too much too soon?

Since this is the first year I started from seed, I can't tell if things are going according to plan. They seem to be, but I just need some re-assurance.

My cukes have a lot of flowers and haven't even really started climbing my trellises yet. Is this normal??

So I guess its a bad thing then, good thing I asked. Should I pull them all out or maybe just every other one for now. So disappointed, wish I was warned sooner so I could have prevented this mistake.

Sun/wind scald...peppers can sometimes handle it, though. If you see new growth coming up from the apex/tip of the plant producing new leaves you might be able to nurse them through. When it comes to hardening them off, it's baby steps for the first few days. You might want to wait until you come home and start by putting them out for just a couple hours in the future for the first few days of hardening off. The wind tolerance of leaves is as important, sometimes more important, than the sun tolerance. It's all about building up a bit of outer protection on the leaves to lessen water loss and sun/wind beating down on them. It's a good idea to get them first initially used to the wind, so a shaded or part-shaded are works.

The peppers - pinch off the blooms and they will do fine. The cukes however will most likely stunt. I would start new ones of them or better yet plan to just direct seed them - that works best anyway. Members of that family if transplanted with more than just 1 true leaf produce poorly throughout the season. Dave

If there are lots of worms in it, then I expect the biggest problem is going to be any plants that are top heavy and need firm soil contact to remain standing, will have trouble finding it in your organic material. Otherwise, so long as you provide adequate moisture other plants should like the material as a media for growing. The only other issue is that perhaps the carbon materials have not broken down enough and will still be requiring a fair bit of Nitrogen to break down. If you see plants showing signs of Nitrogen deficiency, you may need to fertilize with a bit extra nitrogen fertilizer. Nitrogen deficiency often shows as older leaves yellowing and lackluster leafy growth. Here is a link that might be useful: My Garden

Well, heck. It's Aunt Ruby's, after all. Duh. I cut it down to the top of the old container and buried the stem in Jiffy Mix in a deep McDonald's drink cup. It's "up to its eyeballs" in mix with a baggie on top in my kitchen window. This has been a real learning experience for me. It's good to know there is hope after they get too tall. Sunny

I'll defer to the experts, but I wouldn't do anything to your plants. Unlike the ones in the other thread, yours don't look stressed to me. THey look robust and healthy

I know and that's what makes this a difficult choice. I really don't know if I should pull them (or at least some of them) if they are all thriving. Right now they are staying put.

Suppose at some point things change and it becomes apparent that some re-work needs to be done. What is the latest I could possible get away with planting seed directly in my beds and still manage to get decent production before the Fall?

They look fine to me..... looks like they are ready to start growing with the next sunny, hot day.

They look healthy and fine. I would leave them to do their thing.
I think what you got is BUSH type cukes. That is the characteristic of bush type of cuke, squash...The won't grow vines
