The culptit--maybe--but oh so cute!

Oh, where is my cursed camera?!?

I have been wondering what has been absconding with strawberries and eating my IWK beans before they germinate. I have heard a lot of raccoon activity lately, and today, put a face to the noise and the evidence. This afternoon, my neighbor found a lost baby raccoon under her deck stairs, chirring away, looking for mom. Don't know if he fell out of his nest, or if something happened to mom. He is now in an old rabbit hutch, awaiting a wildlife rehabber to come and raise him. I think this is great news. I KNOW the stinker loves strawberries, because the neighbor's kids were giving him berries through the cage wires. Unfortunately, he is not the only bandit living here--so I doubt I will see a reduction in berry theft, etc.

So, he will be moving out, away from my garden and berries. I just hope they don't release him near a garden lol.

Let's hope the rest of its family isn't nearby and munches on your garden goodies!

I have chipmunks that like my strawberries, and there's just no way to deter them without help. We got only TWO pickings large enough to have strawberry shortcake this year. They aren't producing any more, but a feral cat has taken up residence under the shed and we feed her, so maybe she can keep them away from the rest of the garden goodies!

Hi Anney--I moved my dog tie-out to close to the strawberries, which scared aweay the munks living under my shed, but not the other critters.

I do like the Twins/Olympic ad! In a way however, the powerful REAL "Human drama" in that story is a little "lessened" in a way because it's for only a "beer". Can't put my finger on exactly WHY, but there's a slight disconnect for ME anyway. This the original 9/11-Clydesdale ad. Aired only once on TV. Very naughty. I remember one Christmas party where we put toothpicks in our mouths, picked up a lifesaver on the toothpick and passed it to the next person. My next person was my male boss. I kept giggling. He was a lot older and smelled of his dirty old pipe!

Oh my gosh. What a beautiful video. The little ones jumping with joy and having so much fun..you can almost hear them squeal with laughter. And the mother watching and enjoying as well. It made me smile. The best part is the whispering in the background as the mother taking the video whispers to her children to "shussh" and watch the miracle before them. As you can tell I love animals..and am very touched by the video. Thanks for sharing. ~Susan

A few years ago I grew strawberries in a strawberry pot on the deck. I kept wondering where the berries were going, until, one day, I saw my dog oh-so-gently biting individual berries off one by one and eating them. It was too cute for words. I never got a berry from the plant that year...if it made her happy, well, it was ok with me. I should have checked her (brown) face for red stains!

She has now passed, and my current dog now eats the verbena flowers. I had gorgeous purple flowers for a week and since then, not a trace. Ah, if it makes her happy..... ;-)

Aren't baby raccoons cute? Too bad they grow up into not-so-cute (and mean) pests. Anyway, I'm glad you caught it. It was probably thinking, "Hey this cage thing ain't so bad as long as I get more berries!"

Saturday night at 3:00 am my little dog suddenly went ballistic, barking out the glass door of our bedroom. It was a grown racoon trying to open the screen door. I think that coon has been pulling radishes out of my garden bed.

I'll have to trap him/her before the corn ripens or I won't get any.

Yep--i am glad we caught him while he was little, cute, and nice. Do NOT want to get that close to Mom or Dad lol.

I had one standing on its hind legs with its arms buried up to his shoulders in my compost pile digging out stuff. LOL!!!

A couple weeks ago about 10pm I was going from a shed to the house and I saw the tiniest possum ever. He growled at me. He was so small and so cute and sooooo fierce.
Then last night I was out again about 10pm and I heard something growling. This sounded like cats maybe getting ready to rumble. So I took my flashlight and shone it under the deck. No 2 cats. But there was one cat hiding under a ledge. The flashlight made his eyes orange. Might have been a feral cat. I can't figure it. Never had a cat growl to warn me off. Kinda made me wonder.
