New to Forum Have Few items to trade

Please Help..I wont dissapoint any1 I just need a chance to try and get some seeds, we moved to INdiana recently from Massachusetts I have a huge front porch with alot of room for container items this year, But times are tough and I need a little help to get going Im willing to trade anything on my list I know its not much But its a start Gotta start somewhere right? THank you I hope to become an active part of all of Gardenweb theres so much to learn and Im eager to learn alot!

Well, I just ordered 9 more varieties, so I'll have some of these for trade before long. I'm looking for a few peppers you can eat straight from the plant, a few that are extremely hot, and a few that would be good for making a hot sauce or salsa. Basically, I'm trying to get as many good varieties that I can. Since I'm a closet/balcony grower, I'd prefer only medium or small sized plants that would do well in containers. Your first question regarding paint is a very good one and I'm interested in seeing what kind of feedback you get. We just finished a remodel and didn't want a high sheen in our new master bath. Based on the reps recommendations from Sherwin Williams we went with a satin finish in SW Sea Salt. I was a bit hesitant but we were told it would do fine. However, after using the new shower a few times, we noticed water drip stains from the steam flowing down the walls EVERYWHERE. They don't clean off and now we have to repaint so we're a bit annoyed. In regards to the baseboards, we did wood. A previous owner used some of that vinyl trim in one of our bedrooms and I have to say, it looked cheap (to us) so vinyl wasn't even a consideration. Maybe for crown, where the eye is farther away it would be ok, but not base board or other trim. That's just my thoughts. The elements you're bringing in sound lovely, but very very neutral or bland. I would use the paint color as your opportunity to introduce a little pop. That doesn't mean you need to use something bright or overly energetic, a soft aqua, a blue or green gray or even a cafe brown would look pretty, compliment the other elements in the room and still offer an airy and calming feel.

The bird I'm sorry to say came from Kohl's during the summer when all their outdoor stuff was on sale. The glass I used for the bluebird was Van Gogh Blue and used the blue/green on the tail and wings. That one was a pistol to complete. Sometimes by the end of the project I am absolutely sick of cutting small pieces, and my arm is beyond hurting but it is my stress relief and keeps me out of trouble!

Hi and Welcome to the Forum. Bougainvillea will grow in Victoria so just cover if you are worried about frosts, I know Tibouchina does not like exposure, but likes sun I am sure it grown further south, once again cover in the frosty weather. But I could be wrong ask at your Local Nursery. Seems your Hawthorn is a problem and if it takes 20 years to flower I would get tired of waiting too, but is it the Hawthorn you have that takes that long as there are different species. Do a bit of Googling with its right name I am sure you will find the right answer. Hope this helps a little. MM.

If you read down in the thread too, you will see all about looking for and responding to the many generous offers of seeds for postage.

There is an annual GW Plant swap in Louisville each year in early June. You might want to check out and keep an eye on The Ohio Valley Forum for details.

If you will add your location to your member page, (it goes in the one box provided for the garden zone and location) I will add your name to the list of folks I will be contacting once discussions about setting the date are posted. I only email those with a location on their member page, so I won't accidentally email folks who are not local.

Hi delynn,

Have you heard about the Newbie Seed Project on GardenWeb? I'm a newbie like you and I just got a wonderful free package of all different kinds of seeds from that project -- all you have to do is send a SASBE to the GW member who runs it, bakemom (her email address is kcmccoyesq@aol.com). There's a thread about it on the Seed Trading forum right now -- the header for the thread is "Newbie Seed Project Marches On."

Also, check out the Wintersown.org website -- they're currently offering two different free assortments of seeds that are good for winter sowing (a general assortment and a tomatoes-only assortment). All you have to do is send them a SASE (they don't even ask for a SASBE).

I would like some spearmint. I have several kinds of herbs. what are you looking for? Also, check out my trade list. For things to grow in a pot, I've got some new zealand spinach-it likes sun and its an interesting edible leafed vine.
