Wow, it was a real frost last night! How did you do?

Here at 1000 ft altitude in Mid Eastern PA just west of the Poconos, I covered my early corn, tomatoes, zuchini, and potatoes for the last two nights (may 12-13, 2013). I left the rest of the garden to brave the cold, and the cole crops, lettuce, onion transplants, carrots, peas, beets, parsley, and chard did fine. The first night only got down to 35F or so but last night I recorded a 30F temp as the low at 6 am, and there was ice in a water bucket out there. I now see that some of the topmost corn, tomato, zuchini, and potato leaves that touched the plastic cover are wilted and dying but it looks like I saved all the plants. This is the nastiest Spring we have had in 20 years by my reckoning! I hope everyone else made it through. Early plantings are risky, but early harvests are SO rewarding.
