Ramp up your social life - have a nice lawn

Researchers in Arizona experimenting with the effects of landscaping on social interaction have found that optimizing social intercourse (no snickering in the back row, please) depends on having a lawn.

I foresee years of fruitful followup research. Such as - if people all over the desert Southwest start forsaking their xeriscaped/desert-themed yards in favor of socially acceptable lawns, will this lead to dramatic water restrictions, including limited showers? At what point will bodily fumes overcome the social positives of a nice lawn? And for really prime social benefits, does a perfect bluegrass lawn beat out one heavily infiltrated with clover, crabgrass and dandelions? Do rain gardens attract mystics, while tropical-themed plantings draw hot-blooded earth mamas? Even more important, are there specific planting arrangements or features (i.e. really tall berms) that will keep unwanted neighbors at bay?

This could revolutionize garden design, or not.
