That is entirely inaccurate. Hepatitis C is primarily a bloodborne disease. In fact, almost no hepatitis virus can be found in the urine. Even if there was hepatitis in urine, plants can not be infected and thus could not transmit the disease. The reason you have to be very careful with plants fed with human waste is that there can be direct contact of the waste with the edible portions of the plant. When you eat this portion of the plant, you are essentially directly eating a small amount of human waste that is retained on the surface. This is the classic fecal-oral route of transmission seen with diseases like e coli and polio.

See before getting into gardening I grew alot of tropical plants. "Monster" here is older than my children. It's one of my first attempts at vine sculpting. In all that time it did nothing more that send out one or two air roots a season.

Now this shows. In fact all the older trees are now showing new growth after years of just summer leafs. This season was the first grown on just rain water and urine. No fecal matter involved.
