New to container gardening - How am I doing so far?

So, I've been working on my patio for the past month. I'm not done, I don't think it'll ever be 'done', but its done for now. Its the first time I've gotten to plant my own things. I really don't know what I'm doing, but I'm learning as I go.

I have a few containers for now I'm sure I'll add more as I go. But, I don't want to over do it and make it too crowded.

This is what it looked like before.

This is what it looks like now. The next thing I do will be a grill in that empty space in the back between the wine barrel and fountain.

Wine barrels with a Colorado Spruce and Moneywort/Creeping Jenny in the corners. This tree actually wasn't my first choice, I wanted to find a couple of Fat Alberts, but I couldn't find them in this area. We'll see how well these do in containers and how big they get.

Roses with some random underplanting.

And a couple of windowboxes with annuals that I played around with today. I honestly had no idea what I was doing with those. I just put some things in as I was going. I think they turned out ok.
