email notifications not working.

Are others having this problem? I don't get email notifications when someone posts to a thread I'm subscribed to (although I have that option checked.) According to a Gardenweb person I managed to contact (with some difficulty,) the messages are being sent. I have disabled all my spam & junk filters and even selected my ISP's option to disable theirs on my account but it makes no difference. Neither the Gardenweb person nor my ISP's tech help desk can tell me why this is happening. The only suggestion I've been offered is that Gardenweb is using a server that's been flagged as unreliable - i.e. spammy - (by whom?) and maybe they should change to a different server. Gardenweb just hints that my ISP or my spam filters must be to blame. Of course I can't get either of them to even consider talking to each other about it.

If others are having the same experience with notifications, I urge you to start bugging GW (and some of their advertisers) about it. As far as I"m concerned it removes a large part of the pleasure in using the website, and I'm about ready to abandon it.

Oh and by the way if you're a member of other forums on here, maybe you could copy this message to them as well.

I've been having lots of problems sending private messages through GW.

private message and email notification are not same thing.
have try posting a message using the contact us link at bottom of main page.

Yes, go up to Your Houzz in the top right corner, then hit Edit Profile (near top right), then at the left go to Advanced Settings. You can control your notifications from there.

Tamara - thanks, notifications are arriving on my Gmail account (but sometimes there can be "a bit of a lag" before I respond :) Going to switch back to my regular ISP's email and hope they’ll work there as well. If not I'll post again.

I unchecked everything meant to solicit emails, rebooted then went back in and rechecked everything, rebooted again and still no emails. I contacted Houzz and they checked my account and saw no reason why I stopped getting emails. They suggested doing what I had already done and essentially said we can't help you. So, I've just accepted no emails.

But the same server feature - or whatever it is - could intercept both?

Vaguely related, every single thread I read has "A copy of further followups will be emailed to this poster" in bold just under the message box. That used to show up only when someone really was wanting to recieve followups, but I see it even in threads I start and I know I haven't checked that box. Actually, if memory serves correctly, the "check here if you would like post replies emailed to you" box used to only show up on the original post and I see that constantly now too. Ghost box? Poor memory? Not sure...
