Fed Up with Double Daffodils!!

geoforce

Every spring I come to the conclusion that I should dig out most of my double daffs and replace them with singles. In the last 10 years of growing, I have never had a really good display from doubles. What with bud blast, and just plain winter dieoff, I rarely get over 1/3 of them into bloom any particular year and then the blasted buds amid the ones that do open look horrible. The only reliable doubles I have are two old types which I rescued from an old homestead site (from the 1900-1910s) in Oklahoma and have grown for over 30 years. They never blast, and always give a great show. Nor do the singles blast, not even the newer exotic ones.
