Daffodils: Blooming before the stem is high up?

lameri

Hello,

I am thrilled to see that the daffodils I was given two years ago (and didn't give me any flowers last year) are blooming this year. But I'm a newbie, so I have questions:

- Is it normal that the buds start to open before the stems have grown? The are really short right now, definitely not surpassing the height of the leaves.

- Will temperatures around 35-40ºF upset them (it was much warmer, but not it cooled again)?

- Should I fertilize them while blooming? I did while the leaves were growing, but I haven't dared since blooming?

Thank you very much!!
