WOW...that IS early and amazing! What a weird non-winter for some places this year. Just south of me, there is very little snow on the ground but I still have snow in my yard in most places and it's still plenty cold so nothing will start here before April. It looks like your daffodils have decided winter is over! Congratulations and you must really be enjoying those pretty blooms.

Celeste, I don't get to enjoy them that much as it still feels like winter to me and I don't go outside that much. I can't see these from inside the house. But since I now have something blooming I will have to go outside more often to at least get to see my pretty blooms.

WOW, Rita, Hooray for a bloom of any kind.that one looks like a KING ALFRED bloom.No blooms around here any where that O have seen around townNO daffs yet.I have some dormant daylilies has broke the ground and are up a inch or two.

I've had some early daffs blooming about a week now, another type is in bud. Temps were down to 25 last night & predicted to be in the upper teens the next few nights. I know daffs can handle some cold, we'll see how much. We had some really cold temps a couple of nights a couple of weeks ago & I thought that would kill the buds, but no. They really look cheery don't they, but unless I make a special visit outside to see them, I can't see them from any of my windows.

Congrats! Rita on your daffs. It seems winters as been strange all over this year. Can't wait to start seeing pics of your garden this year when everything starts to bloom.

I think all of the rest of us here on the forum that have daffodil blooms are far south of me here on Long Island, New York. Honestly, I didn't expect daffs to be blooming before mid February. But it really has been an unusual winter. Mostly mild and no snow with lots of rain. So anything blooming really makes me think spring. I do have lots and lots of bulbs here so there should be lots and lots more daffs blooming come slightly warmer weather later in the spring. Daffs have started showing folliage but tulips have not come up yet. No wonder on that, it is way, way too early.

I am thinking that the garden will really look great this year. I have most of my gardenbeds finished. Well, no need to move daylilies hopefully and not as much to add as I Have been working on it thru the years. Shrubby areas are done around here, no more room for roses. So only annuals and veggies to plant this spring. Hopefully my iris came thru the winter well and I have great bloom and no winter rot. The siberians should really start to show their stuff as been here about three years now.

Rita, So nice to see color in February. We too have had an unusually warm winter up north here in Canada. Not much snow and only about a week or so of our normal cold weather. Still brown though. :( We won't get anything up here poking through even if it's been warm. Thanks for sharing the pics and I look forward to more when they all start blooming!

It is windy out today and no sunshine. Not a good day to see if any more daffs might have opened up. It really is still too early for spring around here in mid February.

I'm wondering why the daffs are up and no one is showing crocuses which is typically the first ones up.

Temps are up and down here too. I'm hoping spring doesn't come too early. I enjoy watching the spring flowers but I know several years our April turned into 90 degree days although short in duration and then we went back to frosty weather.

Rita, I look forward to seeing all your daffs and daylily blooms this year. I'm sure they will be beauties! I remember how much work you put into your gardens last year. Your daylilies, daffs and lupines. I was trying to clean up my front flower beds the other day when it was such a nice day and I spied some lupine foliage..Yeh! Don't recall what the plant ID tag said though. Maybe it's a bit early to start looking for any signs of foliage for a lot of perennials. See no signs of my coreposis coming back. Have a few daffs that are almost blooming and see signs of more bulbs popping through the ground. They could be either daffs or tulips. My Raspberry wine monarda, larkspurs, shasta daisies, oriental poppies are showing progress. This will be my first year having larkspurs and I hope it is many as has popped up. Surprized that the columbines haven't shown any signs of green leaves yet..maybe it's still a tad early. I did pull a lot of them up in the early Fall as they were reseeding everywhere. I'm anxious for Spring and Summer to come, although it means hard work but hopefully the fruits of our labor will be worth it all for the beauty it provides.
