Heavenly Blue Morning Glories
Comments (6)There is alot of debate about what exactly blue is. Many flowers that are referred to as "blue" are, to my eye, anyway, definitely purple. That could be one explanation. Another explanation could be the differences in light conditions in different parts of your garden or at different seasons of the year. Blues can look purple in dimmer light, and almost pink or white in very intense light. Sometimes when I see pictures of flowers growing in the north, I can hardly believe they are the same ones that I have in my intense light garden. The color differences can be quite amazing. And, finally, there could be a slight variation within one seed strain that might account for the difference in color from one generation to another (especially if it got cross-pollinated with another strain growing somewhere nearby, and that's a real possibility considering how prolific Morning Glories are.)...See MoreWANTED: Wanted: Blue Pea Vine & Heavenly Blue Morning Glory
Comments (3)no luck so far? I'll be happy to bring a blue pea plant or 2 to the FW swap (hope you're gonna get to come); maybe you can over-winter them or put 'em under a full-spectrum light & get them to flower & go to seed. & I read somewhere, or maybe saw it on a gardening show, that you can put a warm fluorescent in one opening of a shop light & a cool one in the other opening, & that'll suffice for a grow light....See MoreSmall flowers on Heavenly Blue Morning Glories
Comments (2)It could be something else, I agree. Heavenly Blue typically doesn't make flowers until later in the summer but you're in a higher heat zone so your garden has been growing well for a while while ours are just now taking off....See MoreMorning glory (heavenly blue) how much light needed?
Comments (3)I'm no MG expert but have heard that they need very bright light to bloom. I do have a Moonflower vine blooming inside but it's under a 1000 watt HID light. There is someone on the forum that posts under the name of ron_convolvulaceae. He probably knows just about everything there is to know about MG's. Good luck....See Morediggerdee zone 6 CT
