Comments (5)Hi All ;Happy New Hosta Year! Well mostly what Connie said..but 1)Get new bifocals so I can take good pix. 2)Start to post pix. 3)Better record keeping for bloom time. 4)Get 2 streaky breeders ..(F. Blue Genes on order) 5)Hopefully trade for first time. 6) Don't dig around eyes to "check" for spring growth too early:) 7)Don't bug dh by dragging him away from work ,3 times a day to see growth . Once each morning this spring should be enough:) 8) Try to avoid buying "look alike" or slug attracting hosta plants. 9) Don't get more plants than I can water w/ well water during droughts :( 10)Don't order any hosta unless I check Papus Losers List.~Dot...See MoreHappy New Year! Any Cooking Resolutions for 2013?
Comments (26)Jude, when we cleaned out the fridge, I had three jars of Vietnamese dipping sauces, all of them different, to be used with spring or summer rolls. They keep for a long time, but I need to use them up. I also had three different Thai marinades, and I should have used the old ones instead of making new ones. I have horseradish root in the fridge, and I need to make a sauce with that as well. Pam, when Bernard comes to do landscaping in the fall, he helps me clean out the fridge by eating leftovers. Maybe I can resolve to make smaller portions. I bought smaller plates so that we would eat less, but that strategy has not been working that well. When I make pasta, I only make just what we can eat at one meal (unless it is lasagna or fresh ravioli), but that is one of the few times I cook just what we can eat. Another is fish - I only buy enough fish for two servings at a time because it is expensive. Lars...See MoreNew Year's Resolutions?
Comments (20)I think we all strive daily to improve but sometimes it helps to have an event, New Years or our birthday, to remind us a year has passed and it's time for a tune-up & check in on our goals. One thing I need to do is be less snarky when mentioning my SIL. She is actual a wonderful person, I just let the little things irritate me and turn that into a joke about her. It's small minded and mean-spirited and it must stop. Just now, I think the Universe was sending me that message when I logged in here, to make a snarky comment about the xmas presents I received from her. I wasn't able to post on the thread. I could post on others, like this one, but not on that one. The Universe is oh-so-very right, I have to stop making fun of her. She is a loving and kind person and doesn't deserve my snarkiness. Other than that, I need to get a new pedometer to verify that I reach my goal of 12,000 steps per day. I know that number has dropped off since my last pedometer died and I don't have the visual reminder. I plan to try a new creative endeavor. Something like an art class (like terriks did) or a weaving class (like trailrunner). Something new to me and artsy and fun....See MoreMy New Year Resolution: A Modest Proposal
Comments (25)I store my food in glass but have rubbermaid plastic for sending food to my Mum & sisters. Recently, all 3 of them returned all my containers. I barely have room for everything when it’s all in stock. Pre-CV, we met at a restaurant. One sister said I have your containers in my car, don’t let me forget to give them to you. When it came time for boxing up leftovers, she went out to her car to get them, and we used those instead of the styrofoam (which triggers my recycling nephew into a rant we’ve all heard). Months later, we’re back at same restaurant and have the same waitress. When boxing up leftovers time comes, we ask can you use anything besides styrofoam? She said, wait, I remember you, you brought your own containers last time. 😆 That’s us, but it was a fluke last time, we should have prepared better this time. My SIL sends food home with my husband in old cool whip containers. I’ve never seen her serve cool whip (in 30 years) so exactly how old are the containers? For Xmas we bought her a new set of Rubbermaid plastic. He said she seemed very pleased....See MoreUser
