I haven't watched the video, but will. I went to all-glass a few years ago, as soon as I discovered the ones the snap-on plastic lids (oh, wait, does that count as all-glass?). I've always been a bit weird about not liking to drink and eat off plastic, just as a sensory thing, not a health thing, so it was an easy transition. I'm finally realizing how much pleasure can be found in life with the little things. A pair of really luscious pj's, food storage that is pretty and makes food prep easier, etc.

This is Rubbermaid Brilliance and it comes in both plastic and glass. I bought all plastic because I have two careless Y chromosomers dropping and banging things. The glass looks beautiful and the in the video a mix of both is recommended.

Good move, Kswl! I did that a couple of years ago and it felt so good. Yes, I kept a few better Rubbermaid pieces I had for ‘just in case’ use, and some very small and large items I use now and then. Other than those, it’s all glass.

My project these past few days was pantry reorganization with some tiered shelf inserts, clearing out spices, and other items that have languished too long in the pantry.

LOL about a week ago I ordered a bazillion of those Rubbermaid brilliance containers (one of my 192 Amazon orders this year)...but my purpose was to organize the bags of flour, sugar, oats, etc, etc, in my pantry cabinet. Opening my cabinet and seeing them makes me happy! We order regularly from nuts.com and I really don’t like the ziplock bags their products come in. They look much prettier in my new containers!

A few years ago, I threw out all of the misc tupperware and plastic containers and bought only the Rubbermaid brilliance. I love the product. I did buy the plastic, not the glass. Plug your ears, cover your eyes; I heat leftovers in the microwave and find the glass just too hot to handle.

I really should stay away from this place. Ha. I have some of these and love them. Little did I know I need more. Ha.

Maddielee, I like the fact that the plastic ones have a built in steam vent that is uncovered when the black clips are loosened. I also heat stuff in plastic when it’s convenient.

How timely! When my son and DIL move out in 2 weeks we plan to toss all the stained, mis-matched, generally gross plastic ware (that they mis-use!) and replace with ???? Now we know what to get. I like the idea of glass, but prefer the weight of plastic, not to mention the durability.

According to my Amazon history, I switched to glass in 2013. I was keeping DGS when DD2 was at work, and I liked what she did. I mostly have the Kinetic Go Green Glass Lock series, and two Pyrex pieces.

I don't like to set goals for the NY, because who knows what curveball life is going to through you during the year. I like to set goals as the year goes along, and my mood changes. My goal for this month has been less internet time. I solved some of that by deleting FB and IG. I have also been doing more odd jobs around the house (cleaning the chandeliers, sealing the soapstone, polishing silver, cleaning the nugget ice machine, etc). Honestly, I think my OCD is in swing with the full moon or something, because things sitting out that normally are not are getting on my last nerve. Also things in storage areas, so I'm getting together more items to donate next week. Oh, and lining up a shred truck again.

This is a project I took on this year. Re-organizing kitchen cabinets/drawers and the pantry. Once of the best things is a container to hold all the lids!! Looks good KSWL!

I switched to glass storage containers several years back . The majority have either a dark gray or white lid. Pantry items are put in plastic containers from The Container Store. I love organizing & labeling!

My DH bought a bunch of nice glass containers at Costco a few years ago; he has long been anti-plastic. I like them too.but I don't have any uber small ones.

I store my food in glass but have rubbermaid plastic for sending food to my Mum & sisters. Recently, all 3 of them returned all my containers. I barely have room for everything when it’s all in stock.

Pre-CV, we met at a restaurant. One sister said I have your containers in my car, don’t let me forget to give them to you. When it came time for boxing up leftovers, she went out to her car to get them, and we used those instead of the styrofoam (which triggers my recycling nephew into a rant we’ve all heard). Months later, we’re back at same restaurant and have the same waitress. When boxing up leftovers time comes, we ask can you use anything besides styrofoam? She said, wait, I remember you, you brought your own containers last time. 😆 That’s us, but it was a fluke last time, we should have prepared better this time.

My SIL sends food home with my husband in old cool whip containers. I’ve never seen her serve cool whip (in 30 years) so exactly how old are the containers? For Xmas we bought her a new set of Rubbermaid plastic. He said she seemed very pleased.

That is a very thoughtful gift Hhireno. I’ve solved my leftover restaurant food storage problem by not taking food home any longer. If I don’t eat it in the restaurant i don’t get it. Oddly enough this has not led to my eating more at a restaurant, but less on average. I am glad to see meal portions getting smaller in restaurants also.

The only plastic food containers I have are Sistema. I line those with parchment and use them to store and give cookies. For picnics I use Chinese takeout containers, realizing those are more plastic than paper.

Otherwise my mother switched to glass containers in the early 80s. She bought some vintage glass lidded Pyrex containers that were square and rectangular and I never picked up the plastic habit.

Thanks for the motivation to rid myself of any remaining plastic. On the hunt for all glass storage.

I've been all glass for years. I cringe at the thought of all the chemicals migrating through cheap or old plastic containers I used when my kids were small...

I bought reusable, collapsible containers to throw in my bag for whenever we can eat out again. Got the idea from my son and gf who always bring them to restaurants.

I use pyrex for food storage but the lids eventually crack so I’ll try the suggestions here when I replace. Thanks!

Last year I bought a bunch of reusable/washable ziploc type bags in various sizes. I still have ziplocs around for all manner of uses but also wash and reuse when I can. Even bought this gizmo a few months to air dry bags.

Thanks for starting this thread, KSWL. I needed a kick start. My storage is pretty organized, but I want to rid myself of more plastic. I have several of the Rubbermaid Easy Find Lids glass series with plastic lids that I love. I also like the working glasses for small quantity leftovers/storage (one is currently holding caramel sauce for bread pudding). I have a huge cabinet in the basement full of the old, thick glass jars that I use for beans, grains, etc. It's the bigger Rubbermaid plastic and Tupperware containers I need to replace. It's helpful to read about the types others like and I have benefitted a lot from ATK's product recommendations. Off to look at Rubbermaid Brilliance and Costco glass containers.

I also have a couple of silicone bags that have a press to close seal, Joanie. They are from the Container store, and though I love the idea of them it’s difficult to get stuff in and out because the opening is just not wide enough.
