Miele lovers - advice on which machine please
Comments (9)The Miele Little Giants are designed as commercial machines. Miele assumes a minimum of five loads per day in these machines, but they can be run 24/7. Other than Bosch, I think these units from Miele are really the only ones left that will do a true sanitize cycle. Bosch's new units call their 141F cycle a "Sanitize" cycle. That temp will NOT kill most bacteria and Virus'. Not the ones that most people really worry about anyway. The older Bosch WAS24460UC, that is still being sold, reaches temps of 161F. That is a 20F drop in wash temp. This is almost 100% due to Bosch wanting to appear more of a "green" company. By lowering their top end wash temp they lower the MEF (Modified Energy Factor) and qualify for more of a tax rebate. So if you take that into account you are left with Asko and Miele selling laundry that actually disinfect clothing. When you figure that Asko is even more of a niche product in the US than Miele, that leaves Miele as the only company selling laundry to the consumer that is capable of disinfecting laundry without a lot of chemicals. If you purchase the little giants, then you can get hospital grade disinfection. This comes in VERY handy when you have the flu going around your home, etc. We wash diapers in our laundry and it would be seriously gross if our top wash temp was 141F. Yuck. We would need to use bleach all of the time or hang the clothes in the sun. The latter is not real practical in the winter when temps are sub 20F. All diapers are washed above 155F. I wish I had a boilwash, but our top end is 161F, which is probably closer to 150F in reality. We use cotton prefolds so the "clothing" can handle the higher wash temps....See MoreMore Miele Little Giant videos :)
Comments (9)This is typical of my Electrolux end of cycle spin. This is CleanteamofNY's video but we have the same machine. (you many have to turn your volume way up to hear the motor) Times are approximate. Tumble back and forth 05 seconds to 25 seconds :25 to :35 tumble to first step ramp (balance sensing), will only spin counter clockwise (balance was OK, so)... :35 to :42 second step ramp to 53 (machine senses excess water coming out of clothes and slows down so pump can rid sump of excess water) 1:05 to 1:15 slow spin (slow enough that clothes hold position because balance was acceptable) 1:15 resume ramp up step three to 2:00 2:01 increase speed 2:10 2:10 hold speed to 4:35 4:35 increase speed to 4:45 4:45 hold speed to 6:40 6:41 slow down 7:35 6:58 pump turn on and off at 7:35 (I think Elux made some changes to the pump staying on longer during the spin because on mine I don't hear the water slapping around when the drum picks up high spin speed)....See MoreNEW Miele Little Giant Dryer finally HERE! Comments (40)@Alex and Larsi, thanks for the great info! I hope you don't mind my hijacking this thread. Sadly, I need to stack. I agree, I hate to spend that kind of money on a dryer. Part of the issue is that my current Frigidaire pair is literally jammed in the laundry closet. And it's small for washer/dryers these days! Add that with my dryer being broken, I'm looking at options. Of course the most cost effective is to repair, which I will anyway (and forward to a family member) and jam it back in and hope it doesn't need any repairs until my back and shoulders heal, lol. Or replace now with a set that fits better. I'm on the fence. Is a condenser dryer shrink cotton polos on low hot, or just hot because it's a closed loop? What are average times for say jeans and towels? Or polos and chinos on low heat? The washer is my dream. As a massage therapist, I buy a washer based on how high the temp gets for getting massage oil/cream out of my sheets. Being able to process quickly will be great too. Thanks for the insight, I wish I could see them in action. I've only seen them unplugged. Are they quiet, like the residential ones?...See Morefront load washing machine Electorlux 1.5K, speequeen $2k Miele $2.5k?
Comments (27)OK! Speed Queen, delivered and installed, all taxes, "in the house sitting where is needs to be with old machine gone" price: $2,812.57 - (Canadian) this one https://ca.speedqueen.com/products/front-load-washers.aspx?mn=AFNE9BSP113CW01#build-your-own Has induction motor! Wow! That is real - deal thinking -cap on engineering- 5 year all in warranty and designed for 20 years. Not denying Miele also has some real - deal engineering and I would admit Miele probably even a better build but not a tank like Speed Queen. Miele- excellent but too small for the 120 volt one, and quite a bit of money - I noted comment about doing laundry all weekend. It was at least $500 more and it was tiny. So it was out. Electrolux - suitable machine no doubt about it- more features- very easy to use controls- unlike 'guessing at kind of' on the SQ.. And Elctrolux has alight in it -kind of neat! - and steam clean - an excellent machine. and could be installed for at or about $1,200 all in. So why not Electrolux but Speed Queen? 1, Vastly and self- evidently better build quality; 2, This! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Induction_motor...See Morezteam
