Anyone have experience with Blanco Silgranit kitchen sinks?
Comments (23)If you google silgranit sinks a list of sites will come up for you to check like faucetdirect.com, homeandstone.com, etc. I got my sink from faucetdirect.com and my ss sink grid from irawoods.com kaidan-Once I decided on my faucet (Kohler Forte) I went online to check the specs and the max. thickness was listed. My granite was the 3 cm/slightly more than 1 1/2" thick. Think the faucet specs stated 1 3/4" max. thickness ok so if you added in the extra thickness of the Diamond back lip might be over the 1 3/4" max. With some faucet models you can order an extender which would then work. HTH....See MoreBlanco Silgranit Prep Sink?
Comments (11)Cj, I had the exact same problem last summer. The Silgranit prep sinks come in the oddest sizes!! I have a formica perimeter countertop and chose to do the Silgranit anthracite super single for my clean-up sink (which I LOVE, BTW.) In my island, which is approximately 3'x6', I have a butcher block top. Since the butcher block was mostly DIY, doing an undermount would've been a huge pain. I knew I didn't want stainless steel, and the silgranit sizes weren't what I was looking for. So I decided to go with a top-mounted copper sink, which I absolutely love! My copper sink, at 16"x14", is slightly smaller than what you want, but it works great for me. I've never had an undermount sink, so sweeping the crumbs into my hand or into the pull-out garbage in the island doesn't bother me. I bought my sink through The Copper Depot, which I found on ebay. Their price was good, customer service was great, and their shipping packaging would've withstood a tornado. I have a Delta faucet in ORB for my copper sink. My silgranit sink has the same Delta faucet in brushed chrome. I thought the two faucet finishes would bug me, but I really don't notice it at all. Here is an older picture of my kitchen to give you an idea of what I'm talking about. Anyway, I just wanted to chime in with another option for you. The copper is very easy to maintain and looks great, IMO. Good luck with your decision!...See MoreOCD alert: Blanco Diamond cleanup sink with Precis prep?
Comments (9)Another who never noticed curves in the Diamond and doesn't like the grid. For the first couple months (yes, months) our sink was installed, our water pressure wasn't right and we were getting about 1/4 - 1/3 what we should. We had the grid in and it was horrible to get stuff out from under it. We finally took it out. When we had a (competent, local) plumber come out and fix the water pressure (unplugging a filter that the GC's plumber couldn't evidently find, even with the directions and schematic...but I digress) and DH was hot to put the grid back in, so we did. I am the one who does clean up. I still felt things were never as clean as with out the grid, therefore...it's out again. Warning: KAW pic...and not a very pretty one...but function abounds. When working in the kitchen, I often have the rollout drain rack on like that and even without...I don't see the curve. I wonder if it depends on the countertop edge as to how evident or not the curve is?...See MoreBLANCO DIAMOND™ 1-1/2 Bowl sink questions
Comments (16)I have the 1 ½ and I love it. The large side fits all of my biggest sheet pans, roasting pans, etc. I've never not had anything fit in the large side. I like to be able to have dirty dishes in one side and have a separate, clean side to use for other things (draining pasta, washing fruits and vegetables, discarding food scraps down the disposal, etc). I have also been using a nifty roll up drying rack (as suggested by romy!) which lays across the large bowl so as to not take up any counter space, gives me access to the large bowl underneath since it only goes halfway across, leaves me the small sink for other tasks, AND rolls up and stores neatly under the sink when not in use! (photo from Bed, Bath, & Beyond...not my sink)...See Morewhyisrenosostressful
